Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville to feature Star Trek actor cameos

Seth MacFarlane recently took to Reddit for an Ama to promote his latest Fox sci-fi comedy, The Orville, where he revealed that the show may feature a cameo or two from the actors of the franchise that helped inspire it, Star Trek.

When one user asked the Family Guy and American Dad creator/star if he had any plans to have Star Trek actors cameo on the show, MacFarlane responded with a vague “We got one or two in the lineup….”

Comment from discussion I am Seth MacFarlane. Ama..

While he doesn’t offer up any hints about which actors will appear on the show, it sounds like at least a few Star Trek stars are embracing The Orville, which is simultaneously a parody and love letter to the classic space franchise.

William Shatner always seems gung-ho about appearing in Star Trek rip-offs/send-ups and even returned to voice James T.

'Teacher' Is Surprisingly Humorous and Clever Comedy with a Message

'Teacher of the Year' movie with Keegan-Michael Key. 'Teacher of the Year' movie: Smart and funny socially conscious comedy Teacher of the Year manages to pull off one of the more difficult balancing acts in filmmaking: it actually is smart while still being funny. Teacher of the Year is smart about education, both as a vocation and as an industry; and it's both character and dialogue funny, leaning heavily on the free-agent talents of Keegan-Michael Key, half of the comedy duo, Key and Peele. Of late, Key has been a valuable asset in a number of comedies looking for a boost, including a stand-out performance in Pitch Perfect 2, currently in theaters. In Teacher of the Year, his name is Principal Douche – though he insists on the french pronunciation. You can imagine the jokes. Matt Letscher as 'Teacher of the Year' Also funny is lead Matt Letscher (Her) as Mitch,

Sliff 2014 Review – Teacher Of The Year

Teacher Of The Year screens as part of the 23rd Annual Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival on Saturday, November 22 at 8:30 Pm at Landmark’s Tivoli Theatre. Get ticket information here.

Writer/director Jason Strouse’s feature film debut concerning the Us education system may give credence to the old adage that “the inmates are running the asylum”. Truman High School’s a wild place thanks mostly to the oddballs and misfits making up most of the administration and faculty. The main exception being the title mentioned teacher of the year, Mitch Carter (Matt Letscher), who is also the rep for the faculty union. As a documentary crew follows him about, Mitch is at a crossroads. He’s being wooed by a private school lobbying group that’s dangling a big salary in front of him (and he’s got an adorable pre-schooler and a child on the way

Pacific Rim 2 Release Date Announced, Animated Series Coming

Guillermo del Toro and Legendary Pictures have confirmed that a sequel to Pacific Rim has been green-lit by the studio and will officially be making its way into theaters on April 7, 2017. In addition to the sequel, BuzzFeed has reported that an animated series set in the Pacific Rim universe is also being developed which may arrive before the second film is released.

The announcement of a sequel comes a very welcome surprise for many fans of the original film, which despite having favorable reviews from both critics and audiences, seriously underperformed at the Us box office. The film was produced for close to a $200 million and wound up bringing in just a little over $100 million from Us theaters. However, the film did go on to make an additional $310 million overseas – $114 million was made in China alone.

“The characters I love will return,” says del Torod. “Raleigh, Mako, Newt, Gottlieb and who knows,

Ilm Releases ‘Pacific Rim’ SFX Breakdown Reel

For over 2 years the team at Industrial Light & Magic in San Francisco, Singapore and Vancouver worked tirelessly to bring Guillermo del Toro’s science fiction epic “Pacific Rim” to life. This reel represents a taste of the visual effects work the team was tasked with in creating everything from monstrous Kaiju to the man-made Jaegers and the environments they are seen in.

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no

R.I.P.D. Review

Director: Robert Schwentke.

Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Mary-Louise Parker, Kevin Bacon, Rober Knepper, Larry Joe Campbell.

Certificate: 12A.

Running Time: 96 minutes.

Synopsis: A recently slain cop joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest In Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him.

Despite a delayed release following a number of production problems and reshoots, the supernatural buddy comedy R.I.P.D. turned out rather well without being anything remarkable in the crowded summer blockbuster season. Certainly the chemistry between leads Ryan Reynolds and a brilliant Jeff Bridges has a lot to do with that. Well, it’s most probably its saving grace as the mismatched Men In Black approach may come across as clichéd or even tired for some, yet the duo really are great together.

The film, based on the Dark Horse comic-book by Peter M. Lenkov, is not perfect by any stretch

Sandler Tragedy Beats Kaiju at Domestic Box Office

Grown Ups 2 beats original Grown Ups, Pacific Rim disappoints on opening weekend: Box office (photo: Taylor Lautner in Grown Ups 2) Here’s a quick rundown of the top twelve movies at the North American box office this weekend, July 12-14, 2013. Universal’s Despicable Me 2, featuring the voices of Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig, was the no. 1 movie, with an estimated $44.75 million — down a not inconsiderable 46% — according to figures found at Box Office Mojo. Despicable Me 2‘s cume currently stands at $229.23 million. The no. 2 movie was the $80 million-budgeted Adam Sandler comedy Grown Ups 2 — which North American critics apparently feel plays out like a tragedy, what with a dismal 9% approval rating and 3.2/10 average at Rotten Tomatoes. Anyhow, American and Canadian audiences seem to be thirsty for tragedies: Grown Ups 2 scored $42.5 million and a solid $12,174 per-theater average. Besides Sandler, the Dennis Dugan-directed Grown Ups 2 also features Chris Rock,

Wknd Box Office to Belong - Not to del Toro's Actioner

Pacific Rim weekend box office: Likely trailing Grown Ups 2, Despicable Me 2 (Photo: Charlie Hunnam in Pacific Rim) Despite a quite promising Thursday evening start, Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim should not get even close to the $50 million mark at the domestic box office this weekend, July 12-14, 2013. Del Toro’s homage to Japanese monsters movies of the ’50s and ’60s has lost quite a bit of steam, apparently after IMAX pre-sales ran their course. According to studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo, Pacific Rim took in $14.62 million on Friday, July 12, including a better-than-expected $3.6 million from Thursday evening and midnight shows. Of Thursday’s figure, an estimated $835,000 originated from 331 IMAX theaters — out of a total of 3,275 venues. IMAX locations have likely continued to boost Pacific Rim‘s box-office fortunes throughout the weekend, but what about the film’s other 2,944 North American venues? Pacific Rim vs. Prometheus, Inception
