It's hard for Hollywood to make a decent video game film, but it's even harder for the gaming industry to make decent video games based off movies. E.T. remains at the top of worst game lists. The Tron game was a big flop, and sure Batman has had his fair share of good games...but he's also had Batman Forever and Batman Begins which speak for themselves in their mediocrity. I composed a list of some of the best video games directly spawned from a movie. Enjoy!
5. Power Rangers: The Movie: The Videogame (Snes/Sega Genesis)
I replayed this game recently, and I have to say it holds up much better than the movie. It's challenging, fun, and an all around great clone of the ever so popular arcade fighter you'd play in the 90s! Sure, it doesn't have music by The Red Hot Chili Peppers, but the option »

Evil Dead was Bruce Campbell's first film, so you may be asking, "what could have come before?"
In 1972, Bruce Campbell appeared in a short film directed by school chum Josh Becker. Becker would go on to work on all the Evil Dead movies with Campbell and Sam Raimi, as well as writing/directing movies like Lunatics: A Love Story and Stryker's War.
But at the age of 14, Bruce Campbell appeared in Becker's first short film, "Oedipus Rex." Based on the Greek tragedy, the short was shot on a lunch break at school (evident by the chalkboard title cards and the auditorium background). It is a silent film, and is pretty much what you would expect a 14-year-old to shoot during his lunch period.

The advertising industry in America has become so ridiculously homogenized it almost feels as if creativity itself has died a slow and painful death. Take the remake of Evil Dead for instance. We got your standard stuff. Elsewhere had some fun!
Bloody Disgusting pointed us towards the website 9 the Creative Shop, who recently scanned and published an ad that appeared in their newspaper's obituaries section. The kicker? Since the dead were returning to life, the areas where the names of the recently deceased would appear were left blank. Pretty nifty! Take a look!
Ghost House Pictures produced the much anticipated remake of The Evil Dead, the film that effectively launched the careers of Sam Raimi (Spider-Man franchise, Darkman, Drag Me to Hell), Rob Tapert (30 Days of Night), and Bruce Campbell, who played the Ash character and was co-producer of the original. They are now back to produce an Evil Dead »

“Groovy!” With that single word, Bruce Campbell and Evil Dead 2 became one of the largest cult classics of all time. Cult films are one of the true bedrocks of cinema. Often they are small films that garner very little box office money, sometimes even being considered failures. But over time, through home video releases and revival screenings, the films gain momentum, creating legacies that outlast even the biggest budgeted studio releases. Many cult classics, from the Evil Dead series to Troll 2 to The Rocky Horror Picture Show, are movies that have captured the imaginations of monster fans for decades. Famous Monsters Of Filmland, the oldest entertainment magazine still in print today, invites you to be our guests as we celebrate the best of cult cinema with special screenings, celebrity Q&A sessions, prizes, and more! »

After "Burn Notice's" upcoming seventh season runs its course, the long-running USA series will come to an end. It's been announced that "Burn Notice" Season 7 will be the series' last.
"'Burn Notice' has had an incredible run over the last six years, and we could not be more proud of the extraordinary talent both in front of and behind the cameras who have collectively made this show into one of the most popular and lauded shows on TV today," USA Network co-president Chris McCumber tells The Hollywood Reporter.
"Burn Notice" will cross the 100-episode mark during Season 7. Series creator Matt Nix will continue his relationship with USA with a new medical drama called "Complications." THR also adds that USA is "is open to considering more Burn Notice in the future, perhaps in different iterations."

USA Network will call it a wrap for “Burn Notice” at the end of its seventh season that begins June 6.
Fox Television Studios’ spy vehicle created by Matt Nix has been a pillar of the cabler’s sked since 2007, and set the template for the blend of high-octane action and comedy that characterize USA’s signature original dramas. The final season will consist of 13 episodes, taking the show past the 100-episode mark.
“ ‘Burn Notice’ has had an incredible run over the last five years, and we could not be more proud of the extraordinary talent both in-front of and behind the cameras who have collectively made this show into one of the most popular and lauded shows on TV today,” said Chris McCumber, USA Network co-president. “From day one, ‘Burn’s’ characters, storylines and mythology have consistently captivated a massive audience, and this final season will raise the stakes even higher, »

USA Network‘s flagship drama Burn Notice is coming to an end. The upcoming 13-episode Season 7 of the spy series will be its final one (the network makes it official with the promo below). But USA is staying in business with Burn Notice creator Matt Nix and studio Fox TV Studios. I’ve learned that the network has put in development Complications, which is written/exec produced by Nix and produced by FtvS. It tells the story of an ER doctor whose life changes after he is involved in a gang shooting, when he is forced to explore how active a doctor can be in treating the cause of his patients’ medical problems. Burn Notice is set to cross the 100-episode mark during its upcoming seventh season, which premieres June 6. “From day one, Burn Notice‘s characters, storylines and mythology have consistently captivated a massive audience, and this final season »

Michael Westen's story has reached its final chapter. Burn Notice, USA Network's veteran spy drama, will end its run after the upcoming seventh season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Created by Matt Nix, Burn Notice stars Jeffrey Donovan, Gabrielle Anwar, Bruce Campbell, Sharon Gless and Coby Bell. It will surpass the 100-episode milestone this summer -- an especially difficult feat for a cable drama to achieve. (Watch a new promo touting Burn Notice's final season below.) Disney returns to Oz with a prequel this time in Oz the Great and Powerful.
Based on author Frank L. Baum’s classic children’s stories, the fantasy movie imagines how the illusionist Oz might have made it to the magical land.
Screenwriters Mitchell Kapner (The Whole Nine Yards) and David Lindsay-Abaire (Rise of the Gaurdians) start their story with Oscar Diggs (James Franco, Rise of the Planet of the Apes), a.k.a. the small-time circus magician Oz the Great and Powerful. He’s more con artist than magician, and when his dubious ethics push him into a hot air balloon to avoid a beating, Oz gets whisked away from dusty Kansas to a magical land.
In Oz, Diggs discovers that there’s a prophecy that »

Over four days the 2013 Bradford Widescreen Festival located at The Pictureville Cinema played host to a mixture of classics in 70mm, CinemaScope and Cinerama formats. There was a special tribute to the 60th anniversary of CinemaScope, the famous widescreen process developed for Twentieth Century Fox back in the 1950s.
Friday kicked off with a rare 70mm screening of The Longest Day preceded by an informative introduction by Sir Christopher Frayling. This was followed by the much- loved The Great Escape presented for the first time in 4K Digital and the picture and sound were simply stunning. Cinema Retro contributor Dr. Sheldon Hall provided an illuminating introduction to this war classic. Following the delegates’ reception in the Kodak Gallery, The Sound of Music was presented in 70mm. The print was generally good although three quarters of the way through, a reel snapped resulting in a »

In 1991, Dana Fredsti was sword-fighting for Sam Raimi. She’d fallen in love with zombies long before then, but with the production of Army of Darkness, she had an opportunity to step into the demon-infested skin of their close cousins. She was a Deadite, and her only goal was to kill Bruce Campbell. Of course she was also an assistant armorer, but that thing about taking down the guy with the chainsaw arm was her main focus. And with a little inspiration from a stop-motion legend, she even had the Deadite walk down to a bone-shuffling art. Now she’s fallen back into the rotting arms of her first love, writing the Ashley Parker novels that set a very skilled young woman against the brain-munching hordes. Fredsti took some time out to talk with us about how the popular book series came to life, to recommend some Zombie reading/viewing, and »

Developer Telltale Games is best known for titles that fit into the classic point-and-click graphic adventure genre, such as Sam & Max, Tales of Monkey Island, and most recently the acclaimed episodic Walking Dead game. However, there was one title that was decidedly outside of their typical gameplay model, that being the 2010 title Poker Night at the Inventory. Taking the basic rules of Texas Hold’Em poker and having players compete against a colorful cast of characters from several different franchises, the game was quite a fun diversion.
Now, two and a half years later, players have been given a chance to return to the secret club known as The Inventory, and meet with a new group of familiar faces in Poker Night 2. The sequel, while mostly identical in actual gameplay, has been beefed up with a new and more accessible unlock system, another type of poker to play, and more goodies to obtain, »
