Peter Callahan was born and raised in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York. A high school dropout, he drove a cab for several years before returning to school, eventually earning a Master's Degree in journalism from Columbia University. After working as a screenwriter in Los Angeles, he returned to his hometown where he wrote and directed "Last Ball", which screened in 20 countries around the world, won several awards, and was the sole U.S. film selected for the prestigious New Director's competition at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain.
His second film, "Against the Current", is also set in the Hudson Valley.
