Elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.
Members have included Gene Clark (tambourine and vocals), Mike Clarke (drums), David Crosby (guitar and vocals), Chris Hillman (bass), Roger McGuinn (guitar and vocals), Gram Parsons, Skip Battin, Gene Parsons, Kevin Kelley, Clarence White.
On their recording of "Mr. Tambourine Man", their first hit song, Roger McGuinn was the only member of the group who actually played an instrument; the rest of the music was performed by session musicians. The other members of the group, however, did supply the vocals.
