The recently announced TV network fall line up seems to have some common themes this year. Did anyone order some revived sitcom actors? Fox, ABC, CBS, and NBC sure did, and these new shows will all have some very familiar faces.
Fox's new series The Mindy Project stars Mindy Kaling in a quirky sitcom about a young woman who has professional success as a gynecologist but just can't quite figure out that love life of hers. Mindy's character on the show is not totally unlike her ditzy, celebrity-obsessed character Kelly Kapoor on The Office, which looks like it will add to the show's likability. Kelly was irritating, sure, but nonetheless comically entertaining. I think Kelly's incredible naïveté has at lest been removed from Mindy's new character, which is definitely necessary if this series is going to work. You just can't have the star of a show plotting to dupe her »

Every May, the major networks come to New York City with footage from the shows they've ordered for fall and a U-haul filled with booze as they try and tempt advertisers to buy airtime on their channel. This not only allows ad sales folk to rub elbows with the stars but also serves as the first time anyone gets to see snippets from all the new fall pilots!

And I did the legwork this year, hitting up every network presentation to find out which warrant a spot on your DVR and which should be avoided like the plague.
What follows are the 10 Most Promising Network Pilots (while TNT, USA and MTV each have shows that deserve spots on this list, we're keeping things to the big 5). And while previous years have revealed prevailing thematic trends, the only consistent thing this week was that most of the networks saved the »

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the fourth announced. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on CBS.
With CBS leading in viewers by the widest margin of any network in 23 years, the network has little need to refresh its line-up this year - especially with last season's successes like "2 Broke Girls" and "Persons of Interest" adding to a solid run of hits in recent years.
Yet it's not resting on its laurels, ordering six new shows and shifting four existing shows around the schedule to shore up its weak points, in the process teaming its two biggest comedies "Big Bang Theory" and "Two and a Half Men" on the one night.
Several other pilots didn't make the final cut and won't be seen include cop drama "The Widow Detective", various comedies about twenty »

With the broadcast networks done shoring up their fall schedule, let’s take a look at what genre fans (and the gays) have to look forward to:
CBS, the nation’s #1 broadcast network, is once again in a position to offer a few new shows, while continuing offer 47 different, yet the same, procedural cop shows. While some may not consider the CSI and NCIS franchise as science fiction, they do offer a lot of technobabble that really is more futuristic methodology than real science. So it’s more puedso-science mixed with the age-old mysteries that are about as mysterious as a puddle. One intriguing series will be Elementary, CBS’ attempt at emulating the BBC’s updated, modern version of Sherlock Holmes without copying it –to avoid lawsuits, you know. Jonny Lee Miller will play Sherlock Holmes, while Lucy Lui will play Jane Watson (ahhh, so see Steven Moffat and the BBC, »

David Krumholtz was paired up alongside a host of "Playboy Club" bunnies last fall on NBC, but this coming fall season, the former "Numb3rs" star has just one gorgeous lady in his TV life - Sophia Bush -- in "Partners."
"My girlfriend is played by the amazing Sophia Bush, one of the hotter women in the world," he told Access Hollywood at the CBS Upfronts in New York City earlier in the week.
"And she flaunts it," David, who plays Joe on "Partners," joked. "She holds it over me, as she should, and I kind of bow to ...

And our first look rundown of this fall's new shows on CBS continues...
Yesterday, we presented TV Fanatics with the official trailers for Vegas, a drama set in Sin City that pits Dennis Quaid against Michael Chiklis; and Elementary, a very modern retelling of the Sherlock Holmes story.
Now, go behind the scenes of the only new CBS comedy, a sitcom from the creators of Will & Grace titled Partners. It stars Michael Urie and David Krumholtz as life-long friends and Brandon Routh and Sophia Bush as the love interests that create a bit of tension.
It will air Mondays at 8:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, CBS presented its Fall 2012-2013 programming slate to advertisers and to the media, giving us a first look at its three new dramas and an exciting new comedy offering. Though it doesn't have a ton of new material -- we heard very little of its two mid-season newbies -- the new shows that it is presenting have some serious potential, as well as the potential to lure in some younger viewers.
First up, the network presented "Partners," from "Will and Grace" creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick. "This is the story of two lifelong best friends and business partners, one straight, one gay, and their other significant others," said CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler. "This is a smart comedy with a lot of heart." Could this signal a return to the Halcyon sitcom days of "Friends" and "Will & Grace"? "Partners" seems to fit in alongside ABC's "Happy Endings »

CBS has shaken up its Monday night line-up for Fall 2012 -- after "How I Met Your Mother" at 8 p.m., they're introducing a new show from "Will and Grace" creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick called "Partners." The series follows lifelong pals, architects Joe (David Krumholtz) and Louis (Michael Urie), whose codependent relationship is complicated by Joe's girlfriend Ali (Sophia Bush) and Louis' boyfriend Wyatt (Brandon Routh).
"It's about four people, two relationships, and three couples," CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler told the press on Wednesday morning. "It's a very honest look at what it means to be in your 20s. You have your very best friend with whom you've grown up... how do you find that balance between what you tell your partner and what you tell your best friend?"
The scheduling puzzled some members of the media. Given that CBS only has one new comedy, it seems strange »

Partners: First Look at the New CBS Bromance Comedy
Ugly Betty star Michael Urie returns to television this fall in the new CBS comedy, Partners.
Partners is based on the lives of creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick. Urie stars as Louis and David Krumholtz plays Joe, two life-long best friends and business partners whose "bromance" is tested when one of them is engaged to be married.
Of course, Louis and Joe are opposites: Joe is an rational architect, while Louis is spontaneous and dramatic. Both are currently in relationships: Joe is dating sophisticated jewelry designer Ali (Sophia Bush), while Louis is dating vegan nurse Wyatt (Brandon Routh). But when Joe becomes engaged to Ali, it’s hard to determine the repercussions of this new development on their friendship.
Watch a featurette with clips for Partners below, which will be airing on Monday nights at 8:30 p.m. beginning in the fall. »

CBS has announced its schedule for the fall 2012-2013 season and it's one that features many returning shows. The eyeball network is enjoying a commanding lead against its competitors, finishing the regular '12 season as the country's most-watched television network for the ninth time in the past 10 years.
However, one long-running show won't be coming back next fall: CSI Miami, the first spinoff from Jerry Bruckheimer's massive crime drama franchise, got its walking papers two weeks back.
Among the new series that CBS is launching this fall are:
Jonny Lee Miller (Dark Shadows, Hackers) stars as detective Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson in a modern-day drama about a crime-solving duo that cracks the NYPD’s most impossible cases. Following his fall from grace in London and a stint in rehab, eccentric Sherlock escapes to Manhattan where his wealthy father forces him to live with »

We here at Zap2it noticed something a little strange in looking at the resume of TV legend James Burrows ("Taxi," "Cheers," "Friends") Wednesday morning (May 16) following the CBS upfronts announcement of their new 2012-13 lineup: "Partners," a new comedy for which Burrows directed the pilot, is already on his list of credentials -- a sitcom from 1995 also named "Partners."
And there are more similarities than just Burrows as a director. CBS describes "Partners" as "two life-long best friends and business partners whose 'bromance' is tested when one of them is engaged to be married." The lead characters (played by David Krumholtz and Michael Urie) are architects, and Krumholtz's fiancee is named Ali.
The 1995-96 comedy from Fox is described as "Best friends Bob and Owen work together as aspiring young architects on the rise, their relationship complicated by Owen's recent engagement to Alicia."
Weird, right? Disappointingly, co-creator David Kohan »

CBS is spreading the love for the 2012-2013 TV season and making some moves.
Next season, "Two And A Half Men" will follow the network's No. 1 comedy "The Big Bang Theory" on Thursday nights and "The Mentalist" is heading to Sundays, airing after "The Good Wife."
CBS picked up six new series for the 2012-2013 TV season: four new dramas -- Sherlock Holmes-centric "Elementary," "Vegas" with Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis, legal drama "Made in Jersey" and cop drama "Golden Boy" -- and two new comedies -- "Partners," a bromantic comedy, and L.A.-set "Friend Me." CBS added one new show to each weeknight (save Wednesday).
"These new series feature a great range of bold concepts, rich characters, big stars and fresh faces," CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler said in a statement. “From a new take on Sherlock Holmes to an epic battle for control of 1960s Las »
