Though the spelling is exactly the same, her stage name bears no connection to screen legend Hedy Lamarr.

Auditioned for the role of Dorothy Wheeler in Valentine (2001), but the role eventually went to Jessica Capshaw. However, director Jamie Blanks still wanted Hedy in the film. In a meeting, they looked at each other, and both said "Ruthie".
