Emmy Predictions 2017: Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series

23 March 2017 2:00 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Last Year’s Winner: Louie Anderson, “Baskets

Still Eligible: Yes.

Hot Streak: There hasn’t been a back-to-back winner in the category since Jeremy Piven won three years in a row for “Entourage.”

Fun Fact: Tony Hale, Ty Burrell, and Eric Stonestreet have all won twice in the past seven years, but never consecutively.

Last year saw two “Veep” supporting actors land nods, but let’s see if we can get a few more in 2017. In addition to Tony Hale (who’s won twice in the past four years) and Matt Walsh (who snagged his first nod in 2016), Timothy Simons, Kevin Dunn, and Gary Cole are all more than deserving of some TV Academy love. Sure, that would take up five of the six slots, but can we really argue against any of them?

Those willing to try include last year’s winner Louie Anderson, who returns stronger than ever »

Wild Red Band Trailer For Rough Night Kicks Off Scarlett Johansson’s Bachelorette Party In Style

8 March 2017 2:15 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

If human-cyborg hybrids and rich, cyberpunk action don’t suit your fancy, you’ll be pleased to know that there’s another Scarlett Johansson vehicle coming in the not-so-distant future, and it’s literally worlds away from Masamune Shirow’s iconic manga franchise.

Its name? Rough Night, a female-led comedy directed by Broad City‘s Lucia Aniello. Flanked by Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Zoe Kravitz, and Ilana Glazer, Johansson’s bride-to-be descends on Miami ready to roll back the years with her nearest and dearest. Aniello’s wild and raunchy picture, one he co-wrote with Broad City cohort Paul W. Downs, taps into that all-too-familiar feeling of reuniting with old friends after years spent apart. It’s a universal emotion, one tinged with a warm and fuzzy feeling of nostalgia, and in outlining Rough Night to BuzzFeed, Aniello heaped praise upon his leading ladies, whose chemistry simply lights up the screen. »

Rough Night Trailer: Scarlett Johansson Throws One Wild Party

8 March 2017 1:25 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Sony Pictures has released the first domestic trailer and an international trailer for the upcoming comedy Rough Night, which was previously known as Rock That Body. This outrageous comedy is coming along at the perfect time, with the recent success of R-rated superhero movies (Logan, Deadpool) and comedies (Bad Moms) alike, which could make Rough Night one of the sleeper hits of the summer. This movie also shows a different side of Scarlett Johansson, who sheds her action hero persona to play a bride-to-be who gets crazy in Miami.

In Rough Night, an edgy R-rated comedy, five best friends from college (played by Scarlett Johansson, Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer and Zo&#235 Kravitz) reunite 10 years later for a wild bachelorette weekend in Miami. Their hard partying takes a hilariously dark turn when they accidentally kill a male stripper. Amidst the craziness of trying to cover it up, they're ultimately »

Is “Rough Night” Trying to be “The Hangover” for Women?

8 March 2017 11:30 AM, PST | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Is Rough Night going to be for women what The Hangover was to men?  It sure seems that way.  The new, raunchy bachelorette party styled film just got its first Red Band trailer and it’s gunning to be the dirtiest “girl” movie since Bridesmaids.   At least that’s the impression I’m getting.   The movie is starring Scarlett Johansson and Kate McKinnon.  The cast also includes Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer, Zoe Kravitz, Ty Burrell and Demi Moore. Rough Night follows a group of five friends who were best buddies in college and reunite to rent a beach house in Miami for a wild

With awards season well underway, Last night saw the stars of Film and TV throw on their posh frocks to strut down the red carpet of The Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards 2017), the awards in which their fellow peers give each other a huge pat on the back for their outstanding work.

Predictably and well deservingly so, Emma Stone and Viola Davis walked away with SAG Awards as well as Denzel Washington for Fences  – who is famously known for being the most nominated actor to never actually having won a SAG before, beating Casey Affleck’s performance in Manchester By The Sea. Claire Foy and John Lithgow also won awards for the Netflix series, The Crown. Poor old Emma Stone was just slightly overwhelmed with her award; you can watch her speech below.
