Foxy fans may want to avert their eyes. In the new movie "Alex Cross," "Lost's" Matthew Fox plays a mixed martial arts fighter/ruthless assassin who murders the wife of a Washington, D.C. detective played by Tyler Perry.
So, yeah, he's the bad guy. But what's worse is how Fox has transformed himself for the role. The always fit Fox seems to have gone to Mickey Rourke-in-"The Wrestler" extremes to model himself as an Mma fighter. In the picture above, Fox seems to be in the middle of some kind of cage match, clenching his teeth malevolently as he twists an appendage possibly out of its socket. In the back, some dame looks on -- intrigued by Fox's negative body fat and prominent veins.
"Alex Cross" is directed by "XXX's" Rob Cohen and co-stars "Breaking Bad's" Giancarlo Esposito, Jean Reno, Edward Burns and Cicely Tyson. »

Matthew Fox cuts a menacing figure in these first stills from "Alex Cross," an upcoming crime-thriller that's based on the 2009 James Patterson novel "I, Alex Cross" (itself the 16th novel in the "Alex Cross" series). Fox, who clearly did some, uh...strength training for the role of murderous cage-fighter Picasso, co-stars opposite Tyler Perry, Rachel Nichols, Jean Reno and Edward Burns in the upcoming film, which is slated to hit theaters on October 26. Check out the gallery of images below and let us know what you think! »

Rob Cohen has been quietly beavering away rebooting the Alex Cross character – you know, the James Patterson detective / forensic psychologist originally played by Morgan Freeman in Kiss The Girls and Along Came A Spider – with Tyler Perry in the starring role. Now the first images have come online via The Film Stage and can be seen in our gallery below.Believe us, they're worth a look. Because while Perry and cop partner Edward Burns strike typical police poses (badges, guns etc.) and look like they should, the villain for this one is played by Matthew Fox. And he looks nothing like you’d expect. The story finds Cross on the hunt for Michael Sullivan (Fox), a ruthless assassin who murders the Washington DC detective’s wife. Sullivan, it turns out, is an Mma fighter, and Fox has transformed himself into something that would be right at home in a fantasy »

Eight pictures from Alex Cross, the filmed adaptation of James Patterson's "I, Alex Cross" with Tyler Perry in the title role have arrived and with them we get the surprising look at Matthew Fox who plays a serial killer in the film. The "Lost" star definitely went all out in preparing for the role as he's virtually unrecognizable with almost no body fat and a his shaved head. The film is directed by Rob Cohen (xXx) and is set for an October 26 release and is being looked at as a franchise starter and origin tale of the detective/psychologist Alex Cross as he tracks a serial killer and rapist who may have murdered his pregnant wife years earlier. Co-starring Edward Burns, Jean Reno, Giancarlo Esposito, John C. McGinley and Yara Shahidi. Among the eight new images (via Kinopoisk), you also get a look at fellow co-star Ed Burns. To »

Fans of James Patterson’s famous homicide detective character, Dr. Alex Cross, were originally ecstatic to hear that fan-fave Idris Elba was going to follow in the footsteps of Morgan Freeman – and portray the character onscreen, in a series start-over/reboot titled Alex Cross.
That was before Elba passed on the role – and was eventually replaced by Tyler Perry, prompting a general response of… well, the opposite of ecstatic.
A trailer for Alex Cross is due out in the near future, as the film is slated to hit theaters this fall. However, in the meantime, we can offer the first images of Perry as Dr. Cross – wielding a goatee, badge, and shotgun, among other accessories – alongside costars like Rachel Nichols (Criminal Minds) and Edward Burns (Saving Private Ryan) as Cross’ fellow Detroit detectives, Monica Ashe and Tommy Kane, respectively.
However, if there’s anyone here who leaves an impression, ...

If anyone has been wondering what Matthew Fox has been up to since Lost aired its final episode (besides collecting DUIs), the actor has apparently been living in the gym preparing for his role as an Mma-fighting serial killer in Alex Cross.
Based on the James Patterson novel I, Alex Cross, the movie adaptation was expected to be a change of pace for Tyler Perry, who has assumed the title role previously portrayed by Morgan Freeman in 1997's Kiss the Girls and 2001's Along Came a Spider. But it's Fox that is almost unrecognizable in the first-look photos from the movie.
Fox plays Michael "The Butcher" Sullivan, the man responsible for killing Cross' wife, and Fox appears to be surprisingly up to the task of playing the psychotic character. While the photos of Perry and Ed Burns (playing Cross's partner, Tommy Kane) look fairly tame, it would appear »

I’m a huge James Patterson fan and I love the Alex Cross novels. The first images out for the movie adaptation look pretty cool, but one casting choice concerns me.
Tyler Perry might be going for the laughs in Madea’s Witness Protection but he’s dealing with serious business as the title character in Alex Cross, based on Patterson’s I, Alex Cross. When it comes to Cross, it’s all about the acting so I’m going to have to at least see a trailer to decide if Perry is up for it. If he does well, I might even be able to get over the fact that Idris Elba doesn’t have the part as originally planned.
Matthew Fox looks totally insane as the villain so there are no worries there, but I’m not entirely thrilled with Edward Burns as Cross’ partner, Tommy Kane. People »

James Patterson’s heroic detective Alex Cross was previously the subject of two so-so films starring Morgan Freeman. The character has featured in a total of eighteen novels from 1993-2011, with Freeman playing lead in adaptations of the first two novels in the series, with Kiss The Girls and Along Came A Spider. Now American writer/director/producer and actor Tyler Perry will step into Freeman’s shoes for the rebooted big-screen franchise. Thn has the first set of images from the psychological-thriller with the now simple title of… Alex Cross.
If the film is a success, there are certainly enough crimes for Perry’s Cross to sink his teeth into. These shots certainly look promising, with Lost’s Matthew Fox in particular, as the films psychotic serial-killer ‘Picasso’ seems frighteningly unrecognisable!

Here's the first photos for Summit Entertainment's Alex Cross, which is based on the James Patterson novel of I, Alex Cross. The film is being directed by Rob Cohen (The Skulls, Fast and the Furious) and this gives us our first look at the film's stars that include Tyler Perry, Edward Burns, Jean Reno, Rachel Nichols, and Matthew Fox as an insane killing machine. This is a role unlike anything we've ever seen him in before. He looks like a psychotic badass. Wait until you see some of these pictures of him.
Here's the Synopsis:

As Cross investigates the hit man’s gruesome murders, Sullivan decides to send him a deadly message by murdering his wife in cold blood. Now enraged, Cross vows to hunt down the killer »

An adaption of Patterson's twelfth novel with the character, Cross, will see Tyler Perry portray the detective as he matches wits with a serial killer (Matthew Fox). When things get personal between the two, Cross is pushed to his limits. Matthew Fox is set to join Edward Norton and Linda Hamilton on the list of actors who got totally ripped in preparation for a role judging by these new stills from the upcoming Alex Cross. Seriously – that can’t be the same guy who played Jack Shephard on Lost, can it? Fox is all buffed up for a major part in Alex Cross, where he’ll star opposite Tyler Perry and Edward Burns. The film is a quasi-reboot of the movie series based on James Patterson’s novels, with Perry taking over the title role formerly played by Morgan Freeman. Rob Cohen (XXX) is set to direct, with Perry and Fox being joined by Jean Reno, Giancarlo Esposito, and Rachel Nichols. The film, which shares a title with one of the books in the series, finds Cross hunting down Fox’s Mma...

Matthew Fox lost his hair, his shirt and seemingly all his body fat to play a cage-fighter/killer in Alex Cross, which features Tyler Perry taking over the title role from Morgan Freeman.

In the October 26 release, Fox is utterly unrecognizable (seriously, I had to triple check it was him before posting this story) as the film's big bad who murders Cross' wife and kicks off the action in this franchise reboot, co-starring Edward Burns, Rachel Nichols and Jean Reno.
Kind of excited to see what Matthew can bring to the villainous role after watching him play the hero for six seasons on ABC's Lost. Also, gives more supporting evidence to this theory, doesn't it? »

The first images of Tyler Perry not wearing a dress in the James Patterson adaptation Alex Cross have gone online. Directed by Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious) the film is based on Patterson’s book I, Alex Cross, and Perry stars as the titular detective who was previously played by Morgan Freeman in the Patterson adaptations Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. More interesting, though, are the first images of Matthew Fox as the film’s villain. He looks absolutely insane and ripped out of his mind. I literally stared at one image for 10 seconds before I realized it was Fox who was putting someone in a Hulk-ed out choke hold. It’s honestly kind of disturbing. Anyway, hit the jump to check out the images, which also feature Edward Burns as Perry’s partner. Alex Cross opens on October 26th. Here’s a synopsis for Patterson’s novel, »

On "30 Rock"'s season finale last night, Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan) announced his intention to open his own movie studio that makes films where he dresses up as an elderly woman, that appeal entirely to black audiences. It's an obvious dig at the ludicrously successful Tyler Perry, who's made millions by writing, directing and starring in a string of pictures that have consistently been hugely profitable. He's a brand name now, but at the same time, outside the African-American community, Perry's yet to truly cross over, a tiny cameo in "Star Trek" having provided his widest exposure to date.
So for the first time, Perry's looking elsewhere: the multi-hyphenate is starring in "Alex Cross" for his usual home of Lionsgate, a reboot of the crime franchise that saw Morgan Freeman have two modest hits a decade ago with "Kiss The Girls" and "Along Came A Spider." Based on the series of novels by James Patterson, »

Alex Cross will be Matthew Fox like we’ve never seen him before. These first images show Fox as an utter killing machine, armed to the teeth with just his bare muscles (and also a gun).
After Morgan Freeman played the role of Dr. Alex Cross in the first two adaptations of James Patterson’s series of books, Tyler Perry will now be front and centre as the detective tasked to track down the killer.
“After Washington DC detective Alex Cross is told that a family member has been murdered, he vows to track down the killer. He soon discovers that she was not his first victim and that things are not what they seem.”
Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious) is behind the camera, with a script co-written by Marc Moss (Along Came a Spider) and Kerry Williamson, adapting Patterson’s 2006 novel, Cross.
