Rated: The Twilight Saga - Breaking Dawn: Part 2 (2012)

19 December 2012 10:00 AM, PST | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

5 years, 5 films, $3.3 billion in worldwide box office sales, and millions of devoted fans. The Twilight Saga has now come and gone. In its wake, movie studios are looking for the next big book-to-movie franchise. If anything, Twilight has shown that movie adaptations of young adult books can be big business. Therefore, it looks like screaming preteens will remain a profitable movie audience for many more years to come.

For the past few years, it has been a tradition of mine to review the latest Twilight movie when it comes out. I do this more to gauge the current state of popular culture than for any avid devotion to the source material (Of which I am absolutely devoid). My experiences with the previous installments were all mostly the same; these movies weren’t particularly great at anything except making me gag. But then again, I’m a viewer outside of the target audience, »

Revisiting Lynch – Part Six: Inland Empire, Unmade Projects and Crazy Clown Time

5 December 2012 5:00 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

In the early part of this century, Lynch spent a lot of time putting together his website David Lynch.com. Embracing the internet and the opportunities his own website afforded him, Lynch would make his own shorts available via this medium as well as the weird sitcom Rabbits and animated series Dumbland.  Lynch also branched out into coffee sales as his own brand was launched and available through the website. His next film was an even more polarising and baffling effort than anything he had previously made.

Inland Empire (2006)

Financed completely independently and filmed over a period of two years on new digital HD camera’s Inland Empire was initially a collection of scenes cobbled together from both Lynch’s own website (the Rabbits shorts) and scenes he would film with Laura Dern. Eventually the project started to take on some form of narrative plot and Lynch filmed scenes involving »

'Revolution' fall finale poll: Will you be back when the show returns?

27 November 2012 2:47 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Now that we've seen 10 episodes of "Revolution" and won't see another until March 25 of next year, it's a good time to ask: How's the show working for you so far?

Last night's "fall finale" was a biggie: Charlie (Tracy Spiridakos) reunited with both her mother, Rachel (Elizabeth Mitchell), and her brother, Danny (Graham Rogers); Miles (Billy Burke) finally faced off with Monroe (David Lyons) in hand to hand (and sword to sword) combat; and Captain Neville (Giancarlo Esposito) remained the most interesting character (though Miles and Rachel are also coming along nicely).

Overall, it was probably the best episode "Revolution" has produced to date and managed to reverse an ongoing ratings decline. But was it enough to keep you hooked over a four month break?

Let us know what you think of "Revolution" by voting in our poll and leaving a comment below!

Revolution, Ep 1.09: “Kashmir” is dragged down by a ridiculous premise

21 November 2012 11:52 AM, PST | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

Revolution, Season 1, Episode 9: “Kashmir”

Written by Charles Beeson

Directed by Jim Barnes

Airs Mondays at 10 pm (Et) on NBC

There’s a massive problem in “Kashmir” which derails the main premise of the train-tunnel-set episode. Having the central characters hallucinate over a lack of air is one thing, but to do it in miles and miles of a tunnel system which had been open to the outside until minutes before is preposterous. It’s poor writing, and lets down what is otherwise an entertaining outing.

The hallucinations themselves give an intriguing insight into our heroes’ innermost regrets and fears. Miles frets that he’d accept an invitation to rejoin the Militia if offered to him; Aaron is wracked with guilt over the wife he abandoned. Nora has a slightly more impersonal if violent hallucination, and Charlie’s isn’t really a result of the oxygen outage, yet shows us »
