- In 1972, Burchfield was 16 and a student at Little Rock Central Senior High when she auditioned and won a small part in the film White Lightning, released the following year. She then attended the University of Arkansas for two years, then transferring to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and majoring in dramatics. She was a senior there when she was cast in Gator after getting a call from Burt Reynolds' manager. At Reynolds' urging, Burchfield moved to Hollywood in February 1976 but quickly faded into obscurity.
- Left acting and started a career in public relations. She eventually became PR Director for L.A. Gear before relocating to Phoenix, where she now does strategic PR for businesses, nonprofits and products.
