28 July 2013 1:50 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Star Wars Celebration Europe kicked off in Messe Essen, Germany yesterday and it is of course an extra special year for fans of the epic space opera; not only is it the thirtieth anniversary of Return of the Jedi, but it's also the first Celebration since 2005 to take place with a new Star Wars movie on the horizon in Disney and J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII. So, does that mean we can expect our first casting announcement? A title unveiling? Well, nothing like that just yet, although we do have a few Star Wars tidbits for you.

Yesterday, Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C3PO), Warwick Davis (Wicket), Ian McDiarmid (The Emperor), Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) kicked off the festivities with a Jedi reunion (presumably Harrison Ford was busy anywhere else), and now we have our first piece of »

All Time High: Cinema Retro's Matthew Field Covers The "Octopussy" Celebration At Pinewood Studios

8 July 2013 5:28 PM, PDT | Cinemaretro.com | See recent CinemaRetro news »

Once again, Cinema Retro is proud to bring you behind the scenes on a world-class retro movie event.

By Matthew Field

It seemed only appropriate that Octopussy, the only James Bond film with a tenuous link to Wimbledon, should be the theme of BondStars’ summer barbeque on the very day Andy Murray became champion. (Octopussy actor and former tennis player Vijay Amritraj was semi-finalist in the men’s doubles in 1976!)

On a sweltering summer’s day, Octopussy At 30, re-united cast and crew from the 13th James Bond movie at Pinewood Studios where the movie was made back in 1982/83.

The day kicked off with a screening of the Blu-ray master (kindly lent by Eon Productions) in Theatre 7. Director John Glen, assistant director Anthony Waye and stars Maud Adams and Kristina Wayborn, were on hand to introduce the film to fans at the sold out event. Glen told the audience that Octopussy »

Mark Hamill Talks All Things Star Wars

6 May 2013 5:00 AM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

Over the weekend, the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, CA held a special screening of Return of the Jedi on May the 4th. Mark Hamill made a surprise appearance and  ended up talking about his experience being a part of Star Wars, and also talked a little bit about Star Wars: Episode VII.

AICN was there to give us a little rundown on what went on and what Hamill had to say. The actor said he doesn't know any specifics on the new Star Wars movie, and since Disney bought Lucasfilm, he's only had one meeting with Kathleen Kennedy. In that meeting, he expressed his desire to have "a more balanced approach to the effects." He said that she agreed with him on that point and that they've already talked to George Lucas about it. That's a good sign! It's what the fans all want. He then said...

Among the special guests for the inaugural event were Sylvester McCoy (Doctor Who, The Hobbit) and Star Wars stars Alan Harris (Bossk), Laurie Goode (Saurin, Stormtrooper) and Britain's smallest man Michael Henbury (Ewok) - who also appeared in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as a Gringott's Goblin - along with Boba Fett himself Jeremy Bulloch, who really put in a shift signing autographs, posing for fans and chatting about his experiences as the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy. And of course, the cosplayers were also out in full force, including the Empire's finest, the 99th Garrison; check out a gallery here...

Mad Max's Weekend Movie Guide: 'Burt Wonderstone' & More

"One of the things that Teller and I are obsessed with, one of the reasons that we're in magic, is the difference between fantasy and reality." — Penn Jillette

Greetings from the apocalypse! We managed to hold off the Antichrist by electing a pope from South America who looks just like Jonathan Pryce. That's pretty good work. I say Rome, the Americas and all the rest of us deserve an honest weekend off, and what more auspicious time to do that than a Catholic drinking holiday?

Friday, March 15

We're gonna kick things off at the appropriate time to christen any weekend: 4:20 p.m., since that's when "Curly Sue" is on Encore. I know what you're thinking, "Man, that's, like, John Hughes' worst movie," and you're not wrong, but this ersatz comedy about a father-daughter con artist team who sleaze their way into some rich folks' hearts has a little »

Arch-Rivals Han Solo and Boba Fett Get Their Own 'Star Wars' Spinoff Flicks

6 February 2013 12:24 PM, PST | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

Yoda solo film rumors, misleading they may be, but uncovered the truth we have.

On the heels of Disney head honcho Bob Iger sensing the presence of "Star Wars" spinoff projects in the force, Entertainment Weekly has announced who the scripts by Simon Kinberg and Lawrence Kasdan will revolve around: young space pirate/scoundrel Han Solo, and ruthless bounty hunting clone Boba Fett.

By inserting "Attack of the Clones" co-star/Jango Fett actor Temeura Morrison's voice into "The Empire Strikes Back," George Lucas essentially handed Morrison the Boba gig on a silver platter, and the character's creator Joe Johnston of "Rocketeer" and "Captain America" fame has already stated years ago he would like to direct a Fett adventure. Original Boba actor Jeremy Bulloch would like a cameo please. So be it. Now the question is who will he run into… Darth Vader perhaps?

‘Star Wars’ Spin-Offs Will Include Boba Fett & Young Han Solo Stories!

6 February 2013 10:52 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

After last night’s breaking news surrounding the confirmation that Disney are working on a set of stand-alone features as well as a new trilogy, we are getting word on two of those projects other than the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Wars: Episode VII.

While it was rumoured well before the recent prequel trilogy, we can now confirm that cult favourite Boba Fett will make one of their spin-offs dedicated to the intergalactic bounty hunter, previously played by Jeremy Bulloch.

Perhaps more excitingly, Harrison Ford’s loveable rogue and Millennium Falcon-flyer (who most definitely shot first) Han Solo, will see his early years brought to the big screen, which will tell the story of how he and the hulking Wookie, Chewbacca, became loyal best buds and should also run into a rather chubby loan-shark named Jabba The Hut.

We await confirmation but rumours also suggest that old boy Yoda is »

Enough Talk, Let's Make A Boba Fett Movie

6 February 2013 9:30 AM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Probably for as long as he's been lingering in the background and making fanboys' imaginations run wild, Boba Fett has been the dream character for a spin-off in the "Star Wars" universe. One of the people credited with creating him, "Captain America" director Joe Johnston, has even mentioned on numerous occasions that he wants to make a Fett movie a reality.

Now that Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed that standalone, character-based "Star Wars" movies are in development alongside the new episodic installments, Fett comes to mind as the most obvious choice for Lucasfilm. He' s an outrageously popular character, small enough to focus a new film on and with enough mystery to not interfere with the main saga. Maybe that's why, as Entertainment Weekly is currently reporting, there's word of a Boba Fett movie in development.

How do you do it? Let me tell you.

When do you set it? »
