Referee Joe Cooper joined the punters by losing his shirt on Amir Khan | Martin Kelner

Amir Khan said he was whiter than white in defeat. That was more than you could say for the blood-splattered referee

Why would a referee go into a world championship fight wearing a pristine white shirt? It seems terribly unwise, given the possibility that the evening will end with it splattered with claret. Though I am no expert in removing blood stains from a white garment I suspect Joe Cooper, the man in the middle at the Amir Khan‑Lamont Peterson title fight, will need a very high-temperature programme, and maybe a pre-wash soak, before he can wear again the outfit he wore on Saturday night.

We got a good five minutes to study the patterns made by the fighters' blood on Cooper's top, while waiting for the judges' verdict in Washington DC. If you were so inclined, you could have filled the time with home-administered Rorschach inkblot tests. I »

"Real Steel" Star Anthony Mackie: "Boxing's A Joke"

7 October 2011 10:07 AM, PDT | TooFab | See recent TooFab news »

Anthony Mackie first gained acclaim for his turn as a bomb squad member in "The Hurt Locker." In the new film "Real Steel," out in theaters this weekend, the actor plays Finn, a cocky boxing promoter who plays an important role in Hugh Jackman and Dakota Goyo's lives. TooFab's Lawrence Yee spoke with Mackie about his inspiration for the role and why he thinks the current state of boxing is a joke. TooFab: This role is a real departure from some of your heavier former roles. What attracted you to this project? Mackie: I really wanted to work with [director] Shawn Levy , who I've been tracking since the first "Night at the Museum." I love boxing. I was so excited by the idea of capturing this world. I feel like a lot of movies rely on CGI and the audience leaves asking "where's the story?" Real Steel is a great family story as well. »

Let's Get Ready to Rumble With 6 'Real Steel' Clips

4 October 2011 1:00 PM, PDT | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

Hugh Jackman is retracting his claws and putting up his dukes for a no-holds-barred robot rumble in Shawn Levy's hard-hitting futuristic blockbuster "Real Steel/" When his meal-ticket robot bites the dust in the ring, professional robot-fighting coach Charlie Kenton is down on his luck and looking for a miracle, and finds one in Atom, a discarded sparring robot whom he trains to be a champion.

Charlie and Atom conquer the robot fighting circuit (pun intended), only to face their toughest opponent ever. Can they go the distance? Evangeline Lilly's gorgeousness costars.

1. Noisy Boy Versus Midas. Hugh Jackman's robot learns the hard way that purple is totally not in this year.

2. Hugh Jackman lectures a boy while frantically looking for his lost contact lens in a rainy junkyard.

3. Finn ("Hurt Locker" star Anthony Mackie) keeps screaming, "Is that Noisy Boy?" No, Finn, you are noisy boy, use your inside voice. »

Xbox 360 Review: Fight Night Champion – Franchise Steps Forward to Real, Professional Boxing

24 April 2011 10:40 AM, PDT | BuzzFocus.com | See recent BuzzFocus.com news »

“Let’s get ready to rumble!” Maybe the days of Michael Buffer announcing main event boxing matches aren’t as typical as they used to be but professional boxing is still here. With the number of Mma games growing, EA’s Fight Night Champion is a ray of light for any fan of pugilism.

EA has always gone for the realism in gameplay and visuals; Fight Night Champion has delivered well in both aspects. EA’s newest installment of Fight Night has raised the standard of what a boxing simulation should be. The game has reworked the in-ring experience and makes you work like a pro boxer. The brawling of old Fight Night games won’t get you too far in this edition. You’re going to have to pay good attention to your stamina bar and be careful not to exhaust yourself. Also, your performance in the round will »
