Elsa Buchanan was born on December 22, 1908 in London, England as Elsie Winifred Buchanan Tinker. She was an actress, known for Peter Ibbetson (1935), Charlie Chan in London (1934) and Lloyd's of London (1936). She was married to Noll Charlton. She died on January 17, 2004 in Childswickham, Worcestershire, England.

Made her stage debut at age three at the Palace Theater at a performance attended by Queen Mary.
Was the first Englishwoman admitted to the training school of the Academie Francaise.
Noted for her blonde hair, and called "the girl with the largest eyes and the smallest waist in Hollywood."
Shortly before her death saw "Gosford Park," in which one of the characters, a Hollywood producer, discusses casting for "Charlie Chan in London," inviting a blonde maid to audition for the part that she actually played in that movie.
She accepted her husband's proposal of marriage while attending a coronation ball for King George VI.
