Parenthood: Season Six Ratings

17 October 2014 1:30 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Despite mediocre and poor ratings, Parenthood managed to escape being cancelled for years. But now, NBC has decided to end the show with season six. Will the ratings rise in the final year or will they drop even lower? Will they regret the decision? Stay tuned.

Parenthood follows the lives of the extended Braverman family in Northern California. The large ensemble cast includes Bonnie Bedelia, Joy Bryant, Tyree Brown, Max Burkholder, Erika Christensen, Lauren Graham, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Peter Krause, Xolo Mariduena, Craig T. Nelson, Monica Potter, Savannah Paige Rae, Dax Shepard, and Mae Whitman.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- usually the next day, around 11:30am Est/8:30am »

Jeff Berg’s Resolution Agency to Close

6 October 2014 11:08 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Former ICM chairman-ceo Jeff Berg has closed his talent and literary agency Resolution — less than two years after launching.

Berg, the chairman of Resolution, told his staff of about 40 on Monday that he was shuttering the agency, promised that he would help them find new jobs and blamed the closure on Chinese investor Bison Capital Holdings.

Berg had opened the agency with a flourish in January 2013 in lavish offices in Century City and moved aggressively to hire agents, who were paid around $200,000 to $300,000, with some getting seven figure salaries.

The downfall came seven months after Resolution’s announcement in March that Beijing-based Bison had taken a stake in Resolution Talent and Literary Agency, the first time that a Chinese company had invested in an American talent agency.

Berg was not available for comment but insiders have said that Bison simply failed to provide the promised funding, creating an atmosphere of uncertainty at Resolution, »

11 May 2014 12:29 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Things were a little touch and go for awhile but NBC has now renewed Parenthood for a sixth season. It will be the last season and the cast and crew will have 13 episodes to say goodbye.

Parenthood revolves around the lives of the extended Braverman family in Northern California. The ensemble cast includes Lauren Graham, Dax Shepard, Tyree Brown, Joy Bryant, Max Burkholder, Erika Christensen, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Monica Potter, Savannah Paige Rae, Xolo Mariduena, Mae Whitman, with Bonnie Bedelia and Craig T. Nelson.

The series has never been a ratings hit for NBC but it has remained a pretty consistent performer with a devoted fanbase. This season, the ratings took a pretty dramatic downturn, dropping 20-30% compared to the fourth season. Shows like Revolution, Growing Up Fisher, and Believe all had better ratings but they were cancelled.

Parenthood: Cancelled Over Dispute for Season Six?

9 May 2014 9:22 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Sounds like there's some trouble over at the Braverman house. Deadline reports that the show may be cancelled over salary and cost-cutting measures.

Airing on NBC since 2010, Parenthood revolves around the lives of the extended Braverman family in Northern California. The ensemble cast includes Lauren Graham, Dax Shepard, Tyree Brown, Joy Bryant, Max Burkholder, Erika Christensen, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Monica Potter, Savannah Paige Rae, Xolo Mariduena, Mae Whitman, with Bonnie Bedelia and Craig T. Nelson.

Word is that NBC wants to renew the show for a final season of 13 episodes. To cut costs, the network/studio has asked the large cast to reduce their episode guarantee from 13 to nine episodes. That would mean that they'd potentially only appear in and be paid for nine installments.

Reportedly, they don't want to do that and the cast and studio are at »

Grand Budapest Hotel overtakes Need for Speed

26 March 2014 4:00 AM, PDT | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

Wes Anderson enjoys first UK No 1 as takings look set to eclipse his Fantastic Mr Fox

The winner

When it debuted in third place with £1.53m from 284 cinemas, Grand Budapest Hotel always looked on course to become Wes Anderson's biggest live-action film at UK cinemas, displacing The Royal Tenenbaums (£3.33m lifetime). A week later, with an expansion to 372 venues, the film found itself in second place in the UK box office chart. And now, in its third week of release, the Middle European caper grabs the top spot, dethroning video-game adaptation Need for Speed. With third-weekend takings of £1.27m from 458 sites, Grand Budapest Hotel has earned £6.31m in just 17 days. The film has a real shot at overtaking Anderson's animated family flick Fantastic Mr Fox (£9.19m) to become his biggest-ever UK hit.

It's not unprecedented for a film to rise slowly to the top of the box office chart, »

About Last Night Review

20 March 2014 4:00 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

When two star-crossed lovers in this Steve Pink production settle down to indulge in Edward Zwick’s About Last Night…, in that instance you realise that though sharing the same name as the 1986 endeavour, this is by no means a straight up remake, instead more of a contemporary reimagining of sorts, paying homage to the classic romantic comedy. However that doesn’t let this one off the hook so easily, as a film that remains exasperatingly devoid of unique and original ideas.

The aforementioned couple are Danny (Michael Ealy) and Debbie (Joy Bryant), who meet as part of a double date, with their respective best friends Bernie (Kevin Hart) and Joan (Regina Hall). While the latter seem more intent on arguing and ridiculing the other, the former fall hopelessly in love, and in spite of their friends’ advice, Debbie moves in to Danny’s apartment. However while their intense, passionate »

Film Review: 'About Last Night'

19 March 2014 2:43 PM, PDT | CineVue | See recent CineVue news »

★★☆☆☆Based on David Mamet's play Sexual Perversity in Chicago, Steve Pink's About Last Night (2014) - also a remake of the 1986 rom-com starring Rob Lowe and Demi Moore - attempts to provide a modern spin on the trials and tribulations of romantic relationships for 21st century audiences. Yet instead of saying anything new or interesting, the film rehashes every single cliché known to man - and not even in a way that's mildly distracting. Strung along on a double date by their respective best friends, Danny (Michael Ealy) and Debbie (Joy Bryant) click in ways neither of them expected, with their passion for one another quickly escalating from one-night stand to meaningful romance.

Kevin Hart, why isn't he box-office gold?

17 March 2014 12:00 AM, PDT | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

He's appeared in two top TV comedies and had the Apatow seal of approval but Hart has still to top his mega-successful stand-up movie

Judging by About Last Night, we are still waiting for pint-sized stand-up sensation Kevin Hart to make his movie breakthrough. He's been at it for a while now, having appeared as long ago as 2002, aged only 23 and still fresh from a traumatic childhood in Philadelphia. In parallel with his successful stand-up career, Hart has been courting Hollywood for a decade, appearing in Scary Movie 3 and Judd Apatow's college sitcom Undeclared, and building up lots of goodwill, not to mention some influential friends. He was Jason Segal's roommate for a while, which gave him juice with the Axis of Apatow, and netted him cameos in The 40 Year Old Virgin and This Is The End, plus tasty TV appearances on Party Down, the best »

Weekend Box Office: Unstoppable 'Lego Movie' Crushes 'Pompeii,' '3 Days to Kill'

Jessica Herndon, AP Film Writer

Los Angeles (AP) - Action-packed new releases couldn't stack up to 3D hit "The Lego Movie," which took the No. 1 slot in its third weekend at the box office.

The Warner Bros. animated film bested Relativity Media's "3 Days to Kill" and Sony's "Pompeii" on their opening weekends.

"The Lego Movie," featuring the voices of Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks and Morgan Freeman, earned $31.5 million, according to studio estimates Sunday. The domestic total has passed $183 million.

Heading into full-fledged franchise territory with a sequel set to release in May 2017, "The Lego Movie" is the highest grossing film of 2014.

"It's been really tough for any of the newcomers to displace 'Lego,' " said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for box-office tracker Rentrak. "They had such a great release date that put them in this perfect position to dominate the marketplace for several weeks. For 'Lego' to earn $31 million in its third weekend, »

It seems like it was just last month that "Ride Along" was speeding into our hearts and the top slot at the box office, and now we're already talking about a sequel! Oh, wait. It was last month! That was quick.

Well, studios know a sure thing when they see it, and if anyone is a sure thing these days, it's Kevin Hart.
