Long-running UK punk band Cock Sparrer have announced their final album. The LP, titled Hand in Heart, will arrive on April 5th, 2024.
Cock Sparrer formed in 1972, preceding bands like Sex Pistols and The Clash, but never achieved the commercial success of their UK punk counterparts. Amazingly, they still feature the same original four members — vocalist Colin McFaull, guitarist Mick Beaufoy, bassist Steve Burgess, and drummer Steve Bruce — as well as guitarist Daryl Smith, who has been in the band for more than 30 years himself.
Hand in Heart will be Cock Sparrer’s eighth album overall, and the follow-up to 2017’s Forever. The band will celebrate the LP with two record release shows: April 6th at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, and April 13th at Glasgow’s O2 Academy, with tickets available here.
A press release promises Cock Sparrer’s “iconic, anthemic sound” on Hand in Heart, but with a few surprises,...

London, Oct 28 (Ians) Defending champions Manchester City visit an improving Leicester City, while Arsenal take on Nottingham Forrest, and new Aston Villa coach Unai Emery could reflect on what might have been when his new club visits Newcastle in the Premier League this weekend.
Consecutive wins have eased the pressure on Leicester City coach Brendan Rodgers, but his side now faces a difficult home game against second-placed Manchester City in the first match of the weekend.
Pep Guardiola’s side could be without goal-machine Erling Haaland, who was substituted at halftime in midweek with a foot injury and his absence could help Leicester continue to improve their defensive record.
Chelsea coach Graham Potter returns to face Brighton seven weeks after leaving them to move to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have improved since his arrival, while Potter’s replacement, Roberto De Zerbi has yet to win a game, with just two points...

London, March 8 (Ians) Manchester United ended Manchester City's record breaking 21-game winning run on Sunday when they won 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
A second-minute penalty from Bruno Fernandez and a 50th minute goal from left-back Luke Shaw on Sunday gave United a win that still leaves them 11 points behind their neighbors, but will give them local bragging rights and confidence for the rest of the season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side defended magnificently and were lethal on the break, with Anthony Martial in excellent form in their win, and the only negative for Solskjaer was an ankle injury that forced Marcus Rashford off midway through the second half, Xinhua news agency reports.
Daniel Amartey's header two minutes from time had momentarily lifted Leicester City into second place ahead of United after a 2-1 win away to Brighton on Saturday night.

London, Feb 28 (Ians) Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola made history as his side continued their winning run to the Premier League title. Goals from central defenders Ruben Dias and John Stones gave Manchester City their 20th consecutive win in all competitions, with Stones scoring the winner in the 68th minute after Michael Antonio's 43rd-minute goal gave an impressive West Ham hopes of taking at least a point.
The win is Guardiola's 500th victory in charge of a top-flight club in all competitions in a career taking him from Fc Barcelona, to Bayern Munich to Manchester. It is also his 200th win as Manchester City coach and he has needed just 273 matches to reach that total - fewer than any other top-flight manager, Xinhua news reports.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Newcastle took a point which means they move four points clear of third from bottom Fulham, although Steve Bruce's side...

London, Feb 27 (Ians) Manchester City look to extend their winning run to 20 games on Saturday and widen their lead at the top of the Premier League when they host fourth-placed West Ham.
That game opens a weekend which also offers a fascinating game between Chelsea and Manchester United, while Leicester City face Arsenal and Liverpool will have hopes of returning to winning ways against bottom of the table Sheffield United, Xinhua news agency reported.
The main drawback for Pep Guardiola's City is that the league has given them little recovery time after Wednesday's 2-0 Champions League win away to Borussia Monchengladbach, although with players such as John Stones, Sergio Aguero and Kevin de Bruyne on the bench on Wednesday, Guardiola has options to rotate his side against a rival they drew 1-1 with back in October.
With just 14 points from 25 games, West Brom looked destined for a swift return...

London, Jan 28 (Ians) Bottom side Sheffield United sprang the biggest surprise of the ongoing Premier League season when they won 2-1 at Old Trafford to knock Manchester United off the top of the table.
On Wednesday evening, Kean Bryan put Sheffield United ahead with a close-range header after 24 minutes, and although former Blades defender Harry Maguire equalised with 25 minutes left to go, Oliver Burke's curling shot 10 minutes later gave his side an unexpected win, reports Xinhua news agency.
The result means Manchester City, who on Tuesday won 5-0 away to West Brom, are the new league leaders.
Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel's debut as Chelsea coach after being named as Frank Lampard's replacement on Tuesday ended in a 0-0 draw against Wolves at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea had 79 per cent of the ball, but didn't do enough with it and although Wolves keeper Rui Patricio did well to deny Antonio Rudiger and Callum Hudson-Odoi,...

"You can't win anything with kids," once proclaimed pundit Alan Hansen on Match of the Day, referring to the very same Manchester United youngsters who went on to win not anything, but everything, over the following four seasons.
New documentary The Class of '92 tells the incredible story of how David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Phil and Gary Neville became best friends as well as heroes for their club.
Digital Spy met up with two of the Class in Manchester - Paul and Gary - to discuss the movie, who they reckon could play them in a Hollywood biopic and the time Man City fan Noel Gallagher got his hands on Gary's guitar...
Hello, lads. I really enjoyed the movie, documentary - whatever you want to call it...
Paul Scholes: "Movie's better."
Movie, it is. Firstly, what was the point when you realised how special this group of players were?...

Can we expect a 0-0 draw from the Sunderland vs. Chelsea match this afternoon in the big 3pm Premier League kick-off of the day at the Stadium of the Light? Chelsea have failed to score in two successive away games (opening game against Stoke and a tail ender last season against Everton) whilst Sunderland have only scored once this season (including an impotent almost full strength squad in the League cup at Brighton) with star striker Asamoah Gyan under-performing and this week having his head turned by putting in a transfer request for a move to Turkey by ‘parasite agents’ as Steve Bruce called them, offering him bigger wages. In the end Gyan stayed but he is ruled out today through injury, not because of the parasite bites, but a hamstring pull during International duty with Ghana.

The Premiership is back. Get in my son! That’s what the geezers down the old rub a dub dub say eh? Football with the lads, get a few beers in guv’nor. You’re right mate that referee was a right bleeping bleeper. Who’s that you say? Millwall boys at the tube station? Lucky I wasn’t there or else I’d have, I’d have really erm, mugged them off. Yeah…
The long wait is over. Saturday afternoons are fun again, well, Sunday afternoons if the satellite pie face man decides to show the match. Thankfully the Women’s World Cup helped to punctuate the malaise caused by a lack of football this summer, in a completely non perverse appreciating the tournament for sporting merit way of course. England, rather predictably, were eliminated on penalties in the quarter finals. It seems that girls are no better than boys.
