All three of her films (The Turning Point (1977), Nijinsky (1980), and Dancers (1987)) were directed by the late Herbert Ross, who was also a veteran choreographer.
Herbert Ross was her godfather.
She is the daughter of dancer Kelly Brown and the sister of producer Kevin Kelly Brown.
She studied drama at HB Studio in Greenwich Village in New York City.
Browne's family is made up entirely of former ballet dancers and served as the basis for the Oscar-nominated ballet drama The Turning Point (1977).
