While some rival soaps plan their broadcast swan songs, NBC’s Days of Our Lives is plotting a resurgence — or a “rebirth,” as new promos call it — packed with returns by many familiar faces, plus the infusion of some new (yet still familiar, to daytime TV fans) blood.

When three-time Daytime Emmy winner Sarah Joy Brown hits Days of Our Lives on Oct. 4, she’ll mean business — literally, playing a woman of power whom of course comes bearing secrets and will in short order strike a spark with one of the local hunks. Brown, best known for creating the role of General Hospital‘s dynamic Carly (and whose daytime credits also include As the World Turns and The Bold and the Beautiful) gave TVLine a look at how she fits into the new Days ahead.

Quick, someone tell all my children to alert General Hospital, because ABC’s Castle is plotting a super-soapy wink-wink to Nathan Fillion’s daytime roots by slaying a daytime-tv scribe.
In an episode titled — wait for it — “One Life to Lose,” Beckett and Castle will delve into the murder of a soap opera scribe, TVLine has learned exclusively. As they work the case, watch for multiple stars from ABC’s own sudsers to make appearances (though probably not as themselves but fictional thespians).
