Hot Toys announced over the summer they had (finally) acquired the Star Wars license, and that fans could expect not only 1/6th scaled figures but also 1/4 scale in the near future. This was an announcement eagerly anticipated by collectors. Until this point, Hot Toys had only produced one sixth scaled Star Wars figure: Bespin Luke Skywalker, sub-licensed through Sideshow Collectibles. The Luke figure quickly became the quintessential 1/6th scaled Star Wars figure, and though Sideshow has made vast strides in their armored, helmeted figures; their sculpting, paint apps, and actor likenesses are far from on par with the quality work of the Hot Toys team.
My first thought was that Han Solo would be the inaugural figure, but from which film I wasn’t sure. My hope was that it would be Han from Empire, with a Star Wars Han—yes, the film is called Star Wars, not A New Hope—a close second.
