Revisiting Maid Marian And Her Merry Men

Louisa Mellor Nov 22, 2016

Tony Robinson’s revisionist Robin Hood children’s comedy series, out now on limited edition DVD, was a hoot…

In the mid-eighties, my teenage sister amused herself by teaching me to say “a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle”. Not being a six-year-old well-versed in the rhetorical techniques of social emancipation, I didn’t get it. (I’d seen a flea circus; why mightn’t fish find a use for bikes?) My feminist awakening was obviously going to have to wait.

Strictly Come Dancing 2015 winner: We rank the celebrities' chances of topping BBC One's dance-off

Strictly Come Dancing had another classic Halloween episode this weekend, but of course it was scarier for some of the celebrities than others. But who looks like they might be out of the running and who is creeping closer to that Glitter Ball trophy?

Out of the running: Kirsty Gallacher

Well, this seems particularly cruel. Kirsty had finally started to turn things around last week and was creeping up our rankings… but then her Halloween Charleston went horribly wrong with slips and mistakes and she picked up her lowest score of the series before becoming the first woman to be booted out (she joins the series' other eliminees Iwan Thomas, Anthony Ogogo, Daniel O'Donnell and Ainsley Harriott). Bad luck, Kirsty.

10. Jamelia (⬇3)

It doesn't seem quite fair to have Jamelia at the bottom of the rankings. She's far from the worst dancer in the competition and she's been improving, too, but

James tweeted during the BBC One programme last night (31.10.15): ''Is Danny Dyer on Strictly???'' To which Danny replied: ''Yeah like you......oh....wait....'' The pair then lashed out at one another's careers, before James, 37, hit back: ''At least I know I can back my mouth up boy..... Did I maybe touch

Len: "The problem is you're like an English rose and the paso is a cactus, sharp aggressive and spiky. It doesn't really suit your personality. I got the willies at one time when I thought you would use the wrong foot. It wasn't great, Kate - I wish it was."

Darcey: "You look the part – absolutely stunning. To help strengthen your performance use those beautiful eyes.

Strictly Come Dancing 2015: Kellie Bright is facing her "toughest week yet"

Strictly Come Dancing star Kellie Bright has revealed that she's facing her "toughest week yet".

Speaking on Strictly: It Takes Two, Bright explained that she has "no time" to train with her partner Kevin Clifton because of her busy EastEnders schedule.

And she admitted that she's feeling the strain, saying: "We're doing all our rehearsals in the evenings because I'm working all day at the moment, so we were rehearsing [last week's jive] from 7 in the evening to about half past 10 at night, and doing that at 10 o'clock at night, it's hard. Kevin [Clifton]'s exhausted as well!"

Bright also joked that she lost her voice from screaming so loudly when she reached the top of the leaderboard on Saturday, joking: "We had many, many, many runthroughs, especially on the Friday, and I didn't do it right once.

"It's that moment before you go live and you think, 'Please, please let this one go right!
