Rizzoli & Isles: Summer Season Of Change, “Melt My Heart To Stone”
Rizzoli & Isles third season was a season of change with startling highs for some characters and a plummet for another. The superb Sasha Alexander portrayed every facet of the complicated medical examiner, Maura Isles. Alexander’s performance ranges from clever comedy to devastating drama with all shades in between the two. Angie Harmon, as Jane Rizzoli, manages to convey heartbreaking pain with a crack in her voice and lights up the precinct with her smile.
Flanked by a fabulous cast, Harmon and Alexander are hot on the trail of a serial killer who encases his victims in plaster in the summer season finale, “Melt My Heart To Stone”. Eddie Cibrian guests as Dennis Rockmond, an author in whom Maura is interested. Their brief, intense courtship results in one of them falling seriously and one seriously falling.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
I said in last week’s season premiere review that I’d like at least another episode of the Rizzoli & Isles fallout. I got my wish, and how brilliantly handled it was too.
One of the episodes main subplots was the return of Rizzoli’s father, Frankie Sr. (Chazz Palminteri) who we haven’t seen since Season 1. Being British, I’m not one for Americanisms, but geez, what a jerk. I haven’t a clue what the ins and outs of an annulment entail, but in this particular plotline it means that Frankie can marry his 28 (that’s Twenty-eight folks) year old partner. Sugardaddying aside (that’s younger than his kids) it completely severs all ties with mama Rizzoli (Lorraine Bracco) and in the process forces her to state that her children, Jane (Angie Harmon), Frankie (Jordan Bridges) and Tommy (Colin Egglesfield), were in fact not planned. »

Rizzoli & Isles 3.02 Recap: Smart Women, Smart Mouths, Smart Phones
Rizzoli & Isles suffered a huge rift in their friendship in the season premiere, "Burning Down The House". In that episode, Jane (Angie Harmon) shoots Maura's biological father, crime lord Paddy Doyle in the line of duty.
In the follow-up episode "Dirty Little Secret", the women are still on a "curt courtesy with sniping" status. Local headlines exploit their rift with the headline, "Professional Frenemies? Cop Shoots Medical Examiner's Mob Father". Fate intervenes and sets the two on a course to solve the murder of a strangled yoga student and a body that has a skull fracture and a rash contracted from one of seven possible contaminated lakes in western Massachusetts.
Jane's tension at work is compounded by the tension in her home life. Her dad, Frank Sr., (Chazz Palmenteri) is divorcing Jane's mom, Angela, and wants Angela (Lorraine Bracco) to sign annulment papers. »

Rizzoli & Isles Season 3 Premiere Review: The Girls Blast Their Way Into a New Season
Rizzoli & Isles blasted its way into its premiere of Season 3 with a .45 caliber punch. When a sting that has Dr. Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander) going undercover goes awry, her best friend, Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon), is forced to shoot Maura's biological father, Boston mob boss, Paddy Doyle (John Doman). The cast and story run the gamut of emotions in exquisite style, making us laugh and cry in the same breath.
Alexander wrings every fear and hope of an adopted child seeking information from a biological and adoptive parents with haunting in her eyes and restrained expression that breaks your heart. Harmon's reactions to her perceived betrayal by love interest, federal agent Gabriel Dean (Billy Burke), reflects the pain of every speed bump felt in a relationship that has gone off course. With their characters' relationship strained beyond the breaking point, »

Chicago – TNT begins their summer 2012 assault tonight, a plan of attack that includes nine original series, including their first primetime reality show (“The Great Escape”), a spin-off of “The Closer” (“Major Crimes”), and a new series for Will McCormack (“Perception”). The summer season starts with two reliable hits as the second season of “Franklin & Bash” and the third season of “Rizzoli & Isles” return tonight. Both shows are solid if not spectacular, driven by the titular leads and the charismatic people who play them. They’re not going to change the TV landscape but they make for enjoyable diversions on a Tuesday night and sometimes that’s all you need.
“Rizzoli & Isles”
Television Rating: 3.5/5.0
The night starts with one of cable’s biggest hits, the increasingly popular “Rizzoli & Isles,” the show that will be the network’s flagship once “The Closer” heads off into the sunset this season. The surprising hit »
