Criminal Minds is reportedly on the verge of a renewal.
It's also on the verge of losing two key cast members.
A new Deadline report confirms that Thomas Gibson and Joe Mantegna - whose contracts are up this spring - are likely to sign new deals with the CBS drama.
Shemar Moore, however, is butting heads with the studio over money, while Kirsten Vangsness and A.J. Cook have both turned down the latest offers.
An insider says the actresses have been negotiating as a tandem and are taking a stand against what they believe to be unfair treatment of female cast members on the show, as most make less than half the salaries of their male counterparts.
ABC Studios and CBS faced this same issue in 2010 when they ousted Cook and reduced the episodes of Paget Brewster, leaving Vangsness as the only remaining full-time actress.
We'll update this story as more news breaks. »

"Criminal Minds" Season 9 could see another major cast shakeup.
Much of the cast of "Criminal Minds" has been in negotiations with CBS and producer ABC Studios for new Season 9 contracts -- which is why the show wasn't renewed when CBS announced early renewals of its other shows -- but now reports of final deals have surfaced with key members rejecting them. Thomas Gibson, Joe Mantegna, Shemar Moore, Kirsten Vangsness and A.J. Cook are all in negotiations.
TVLine reports Gibson and Mantegna are close to signing the new deal with Moore still in talks. However, Vangsness and Cook are reported to have outright rejected the offers and are seeking pay that matches their male co-stars. The two are said to be negotiating together. Matthew Gray Gubler and Jeanne Tripplehorn's contracts are not up for renewal.
Deadline reports the deals need to be signed by end of day Tuesday, May 7 for »

There has been some drama lately surrounding "Criminal Minds," one of only a few shows at CBS not to have been either renewed or canceled for the upcoming television season.
Last week, showrunner and Ep Erica Messer inked a new deal with CBS that leaves her at the helm of the ship for a potential Season 9 and now Deadline reports that all the stars have received final offers from the network.
Reportedly, Thomas Gibson and Joe Mantegna are close to re-upping with the popular crime drama, while Shemar Moore is still ensconced in negotiations.
Furthermore, Kirsten Vangsness and A.J. Cook have reportedly turned down their final offers from the network -- they are unhappy with the female stars being paid so much less than the male ones and are willing to walk if there isn't something done to correct that.

Ben and Kate star Nat Faxon has found a new, incredibly understanding TV family.
The actor will play the lead in FX’s untitled comedy pilot from filmmaker Andrew Gurland, our sister site Deadline reports.
The potential series stars Faxon as a married man who is given permission by his wife to get a mistress in order to save their marriage.
Gurland — who penned the Last Exorcism movies — will write and direct the project. He’s also behind the Fox comedy pilot The Gabriels, starring Rob Riggle (Ntsf:sd:suv), Tim Meadows (Saturday Night Live) and Angela Kinsey (The Office).

Modern Family Season 4, Episode 20: “Flip Flop”
Written by Jeffrey Richman & Bill Wrubel
Directed by Gail Mancuso
Airs on Wednesdays at 9pm (Et) on ABC
This week’s episode of Modern Family is delightfully funny, aiming for nothing but laughs it’s clear the episode is a platform for the creators to have fun and entertain themselves. “Flip Flop” is mainly about Cam and Claire’s house-flipping enterprise and with the B story showing Gloria being her usual feisty and territorial self, the episode lacks the emotional depth that usually brings the show to a close each week. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that this week, “Flip Flop” is a very strong episode with no faults. Having only two storylines provides leeway for a ton of group interaction and also invites a handful of brilliant guest stars to join in with the Dunphy-Pritchett clan.

Phil gets desperate when Clameron's flipped house is more difficult to sell than he thought. And guest star Paget Brewster goes up against Gloria
Favorite Moments:
"Remember when he took Manny and that stripper fishing?" "Yeah, they barely got a nipple." "Prepare to Phil the agony of Dunpheat" "Went to college at a place called MIT" "That's M.I.T." "I know how to spell it." My favorite moment was when Cam hit the play button on the remote, and instead of "U Can't Touch This" was "This Is Ira Glass, on the program today ..." Everything is better with Paget Brewster (but she'll always be my beloved Birdgirl). "Dammit, gays! They come to play." Least Favorite Moment: Lily only has one line.

Most of the time flattery can get you pretty far; that is, unless you take it to a creepy/obsessive level, as evidenced on this week's Modern Family. "
Flip Flop" showcased the underused Haley Dunphy putting her skills to work to help reel in a prospective buyer for the flipped house.
That's right, Cam and Claire's project is finally finished!
The completed product, while well done, was kind of lost in this tanked economy. In the face of a frustrating market Phil tried to keep everyone positive, as he always does, and Mitchell bit his tongue to keep from screaming "I told you so!" in Cam's face.
Mitchell wouldn't be satisfied without saying anything so he slipped in a good throwback reference to Gosford Park. More people probably would've gotten the joke had he'd gone with Downton Abbey, but you have to respect the writers for trying to vary things up. »

Ben & Kate alum Nat Faxon has been tapped to guest star in ABC’s comedy pilot Spy. With all her talk of wanting to branch out into comedy, it was only a matter of time before we heard talk of Paget Brewster landing herself a role this pilot season. While her casting might not be much of a surprise, what did catch me off guard was who she would be co-starring with, but I’ll get to that in a bit. For now, let’s just rejoice knowing Brewster is one step closer from the doing the comedy series she’s been looking forward to for the last few years. For her sake, I hope the pilot, called Spy, is picked up.
Now, back to whom Brewster will be starring alongside. According to Deadline, Rob Corddry (Children’s Hospital) is taking on the role of Tim, the central character of Spy. He’s a well intentioned father of a highly intelligent and verbal son, Marcus (Mason Cook »

It’s pilot season, which means your favorite out-of-work TV actors, actresses, creators and writers are getting a chance to return to the small screen once more.
Although we have yet to know what new series we’ll see next year, the networks have been busy selecting projects to consider for their schedules. So far, almost 100 scripts have been chosen, and audiences will only get to see a handful actually come to fruition.
Several are duds, but there are a few promising prospects that I hope network executives will keep around for the 2013-2014 season — even if it means they have to cancel old favorites to make room (just keep Parks and Recreation, Ok, NBC?).
Check out my choices for the best prospective ABC and Fox pilots, and read my selections for NBC and CBS if you missed them yesterday:

The Hangover star Ken Jeong has joined the Us remake of Sky1 comedy Spy.
Jeong will play the Examiner - the role played by Robert Lindsay in the UK original, Deadline reports.
Rob Corddry will star in ABC's Spy as Tim, a father of a young son (Mason Cook), who inadvertently finds himself recruited as a secret agent.
Criminal Minds star Paget Brewster will also feature in the pilot as Tim's cold, neurotic ex-wife.
Jeong stars on NBC comedy Community. His Spy role is in 'second position' to his current commitments, meaning that he will have to forfeit the part if Community is picked up for a fifth season.
The fourth season of Community opened strong with 3.88m viewers, but the show's most recent episode hit a series low of 1.1m in the 18-49 demographic.
Jeong will also be seen reprising his role of Mr. Chow in The Hangover Part III later this year. »

First it sounded like genius, then absolute madness. Deadline reports that ABC is thinking of giving Once Upon a Time's Mad Hatter a spin-off. The project hit a wall when it turned out that Sebastian Stan was unavailable to commit to a series... so then ABC decided it could just recast Sebastian Stan. Really, ABC? Really?
At this point, I'm willing to recommend just about any article that praises Enlightened, a difficult-to-love show from Mike White that's completely worth the effort. It may be great, but it's future remains a big question mark, which is frustrating because, as the Av Club explains it, Enlightened is TV's best show right now.

Former "Lost" star Jorge Garcia has landed a role in CBS' pilot "The Ordained," EW reports. The drama -- which will follow the son of a "Kennedy-esque" political family who leaves the priesthood when his sister's life is threatened by a conspiracy -- just cast "Boardwalk Empire" alum Charlie Cox as its lead earlier in the week.
Garcia will play the lead investigator at the law at the firm Cox's character joins after leaving the clergy. THR reports Garcia's character will be "an easygoing hotdog-eating guy ... who uses unorthodox methods to get the job done and often does so with levity and humor."
Since his memorable role as Hurley on "Lost," Garcia has had roles in "Alcatraz," "Once Upon A Time," and "Californication."
