- Balding, tough-looking French character actor, who occasionally popped up in international productions, usually as heavies. He is perhaps best remembered as hitman Pierre Nicoli of The French Connection (1971). He was the dubbing voice for actors Charles Bronson and Paul Newman.
- On the iconic French Connection poster, his image is the largest between himself and Gene Hackman, who is standing in the background firing his gun at Marcel, whose image takes up most of the frame.
