Earned Bachelor's and Masters' degrees in Speech and Theatre from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, and a PhD in Speech and Theatre from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
A movie and TV aficionado and former film critic and teacher of film history, he is one of the most prolific contributors of information to the IMDb.
Wrote his PhD dissertation on director Joshua Logan. An historical anaylsis, it focused on Logan's use of stage technique on film and film technique on stage.
