Kelly Ripa and Co-Stars Recall Her Time on ‘All My Children’

Kelly Ripa and Co-Stars Recall Her Time on ‘All My Children’
It’s fitting that Kelly Ripa made her “All My Children” debut on Thanksgiving Day in 1990. After all, the fan-favorite actress has been nothing but effusively grateful for the opportunities she received from being cast as heroine Hayley Vaughan Santos on the now-defunct ABC soap opera.

Ripa arrived in Pine Valley, the soap’s fictional setting, wearing an Elvira-like black wig, playing the niece of Trevor Dillon (James Kiberd), whom she affectionately called “Uncle Porkchop.” The rambunctious teen had a smart mouth, but it was all a defense mechanism given her rough upbringing. Soon, “Children” viewers learned that Hayley was the result of a fling her alcoholic mother, Arlene, had with mainstay mogul Adam Chandler.

Sparks flew between Hayley and love interest Brian Bodine — and not just on-camera.

“The first year, we couldn’t really be in the same area together,” says Matt Borlenghi, Brian’s portrayer. “I was in my early 20s asking,

Ariel Winter settlement: 'Modern Family' star's dad gets control of finances

  • Pop2it
The ugly guardianship case surrounding "Modern Family" star Ariel Winter was settled Wednesday (Dec. 12), shortly before a trial over custody of the teen actress was set to begin.

As part of the settlement, Winter, 14, will continue living with her older sister, Shanelle Gray. Her father, Glenn Workman, will take control of Ariel's finances for the time being, the L.A. Times reports (Winter reportedly earns about $70,000 per episode on "Modern Family.")

Mother Chrisoula "Chrystal" Workman, whom Winter accused of abuse, is effectively cut out of her daughter's life for now.

The family did, however, agree to attend counseling and work to patch up their very strained relations. The judge in the case will revisit the settlement at a hearing in late March and could change Winter's custody situation then.

Winter was removed from Chrisoula Workman's home following an Oct. 3 hearing that featured allegations of physical and emotional abuse against Winter.

Ariel Winter's mother files defamation lawsuit against actor Matthew Borlenghi

  • Pop2it
Ariel Winter's mother, Chrisoula Workman, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Matthew Borlenghi, an actor friend of her elder daughter, Shanelle Gray.

The point of contention is the following comment attributed to Borlenghi and posted on a La Times blog in response to an article about Workman's accusations that Winter was involved in an unlawful sexual relationship with an 18-year-old:

"This is a total falsehood. The mother is grasping and clawing to find a way not to lose her money-maker, and hide the fact that she is an abusive monster. Having spent time with her, and seeing the way she acted adoringly towards the boy, these accusations are disgusting, just as she is."

Workman isn't so happy with the "abusive monster" part of that. Hence the lawsuit.

Borlenghi told the Associated Press: "All I can say is that David (Gray) and Shanelle Gray are very close friends of mine

Chrisoula 'Crystal' Workman, the mother of Modern Family's Ariel Winter, has sued one of her daughter's associates for alleged defamation, according to The Associated Press.

The news source reports that the defamation suit cites an online comment that actor Matthew Borlenghi allegedly made, referring to Workman as an "abusive monster."

Winter, 14, is currently under the temporary custody of her sister Shanelle Gray, 34. The trial to determine whether Gray will gain permanent custody of her sister is set to begin Wednesday.

Workman lost custody of Ariel in October after court documents were filed, claiming that Ariel "has been the victim of ongoing physical abuse (slapping, hitting, pushing) and emotional abuse (vile name calling, personal insults about minor and minor's height, attempts to 'sexualize' minor, deprivation of food, etc.) for an extended period of time by the minor's mother ..."

Crystal denies the allegations, telling Et, "I

Interview: Camel Spiders Star Brian Krause

Camel Spiders was just released on Blu-ray/DVD and I was offered the opportunity to interview star Brian Krause (Sleepwalkers, Charmed) about his experience filming the movie. While we only had a brief chat time, I learned about his hate of spiders, working under director Jim Wynorski, and acting with CGI camel spiders.

Thank you for taking the time to talk with me. Camel Spiders is one of those movies that I’ve seen a lot of reader feedback on. Some are disgusted by it, some are excited, and others just don’t enjoy B-movies like this. Camel Spiders is out on Blu-ray/DVD this week and I wanted to find out more about your experience making this film. Can you tell me how you got involved with this movie?

Brian Krause: I’m friends with Matt Borlenghi who was attached to it. He pitched my name to director Jim Wynorski,
