His father, Charles Anson Bond Sr., founded Bond Clothing Co., a national chain of clothing stores, served as mayor of Columbus, Ohio and as president of Religious Pictures Inc. In 1924 he was considered as a possible running mate for Calvin Coolidge on the Republican presidential ticket.
