Historically speaking, people are almost always blown away by celebrities who decide to take on the honor of belting out “The Star-Spangled Banner” at high-profile events. (Never forget Whitney Houston’s chill-inducing performance at Super Bowl Xxv in 1991.)

That being said, there have also been a handful of times singers’ renditions didn’t go over well with audiences, like Fergie’s jazzy take at the 2018 NBA All-Star Game, which prompted Lol-worthy reactions from celebrity attendees and Twitter users.

Amid the buzz-worthy moment, we’re taking a look back at other star-fronted national anthem performances that left some viewers speechless, confused

'The Real Mvp': Flu-Ridden Pink Revered by Celebrity Fans for Singing Super Bowl National Anthem
Though she was under the weather, Pink delivered a stirring national anthem performance at Super Bowl Lii.

On Sunday, the singer braved bitterly cold temperatures as she took center field to kick off (figuratively) the NFL championship game between the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles.

As the crowd inside Minneapolis’ U.S. Bank Stadium applauded for Pink for her rendition, many celebrities in attendance and watching from afar cheered the three-time Grammy winner on via social media.

Many praised Pink, who confirmed the NFL gig, in January, for her strength and resilience as dubbed her “the real Mvp

Music Talk with India’s Fantastic Four: Sanam

What comes to your mind when you hear the word Sanam? As a Bollywood music lover, I think of none other than India’s Fantastic Four who have clocked a whopping 2.7 million subscribers (and counting!) at their YouTube channel, thanks to their wonderful renditions of retro classic hits, modern hits and original compositions.

The fantastic four comprise of brothers Sanam Puri (lead vocals) and Samar Puri (lead guitar), Venky S (bass guitar) and Keshav Dhanraj (drums). I would say they are India’s most commercially successful band, and they have enthralled audiences in various concerts both internationally and in India. As a band, Sanam have also succeeded in bridging the gap between the younger and older generations, through their retro renditions.

I have been fortunate enough to have a chat with the band, to gauge their thoughts on current music trends, whose music they like listening to, and much more!

Espn Suspends Jemele Hill for Two Weeks After Controversial Tweets

Espn is sending Jemele Hill to the bench: The SportsCenter anchor has been suspended for two weeks for violating the network’s social-media guidelines.

The violation stems from a series of tweets Hill sent on Sunday advocating a boycott of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys after owner Jerry Jones said he wouldn’t tolerate his team’s players not standing for the national anthem:

Don't ask Dak, Dez & other Cowboys players to protest. A more powerful statement is if you stop watching and buying their merchandise.

Jemele Hill (@jemelehill) October 9, 2017

Or, how about not patronizing the advertisers who support the Cowboys?

Epic Game of Thrones Retro Theme Song Featuring Michael Bolton

I’m not sure which one of these was more laughable really, or more cringe-worthy. Listening to Michael Bolton belt out a song to Game of Thrones though had to be up there. I understand the guy is a great singer and has done a lot in the course of his career but now that he’s doing projects like this I find myself shaking my head more often than not and wondering what he’s really doing and does he need the money that he’s probably getting from these. Probably not, but that doesn’t stop the creative process. That’s what it is

Espn Pulls Robert Lee From Virginia Game, Due to Asian Announcer's Name

Asian sports announcer Robert Lee — not to be confused with Confederate General Robert E. Lee, who died in 1870 — will no longer call the University of Virginia’s first college football game of the season, Espn has announced.

The decision to remove Lee from the broadcast comes after white nationalist rallies were held on the UVa campus earlier this month protesting the city’s plan to remove a statue of the controversial historical figure of the same name. Those protests eventually turned violent, culminating in a domestic terrorist attack during which a man rammed his car into a group of demonstrators,
