Michael Bogdanov was born on December 15, 1938 in Neath, Glamorgan, Wales as Michael Bogdin. He was a writer and director, known for The Tempest in Butetown (1997), Shakespeare Lives! (1982) and Hiawatha (1984). He was married to Ulrike Engelbrecht and Patricia Ann Warwick. He died on April 16, 2017 in Paros, Greece.

He was awarded the Laurence Olivier Theatre Award in 1990 (1989 season) for Best Director of a Play for "The War of the Roses".
He and Michael Pennington were awarded the Special Award at the 1987 London Critics Circle Theatre Award for "The Henry Trilogy".
An Associate Member of RADA.
He was nominated for 1997 Joseph Jefferson Award for Director of a Play for "Timon of Athens" at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater in Chicago, Illinois.
