Began appearing in American television in 1974, acting in an episode of "Marcus Welby, M.D." at the age of sixteen. His father had died two years earlier.

One of his earliest TV roles was on an episode of "Little House on the Prairie," which starred his father's "Bonanza" co-star Michael Landon.
