Laika studios has released a new poster for their new family horror stop-motion 3D film ParaNorman, which looks like an awesome movie! I'm looking forward to taking my kids to see this one, because it's one that I actually want to see myself. My kids have a little dark streak in them, and they seem to enjoy being scared... until it's time to go to bed.
The story centers on an outcast named Norman who can talk to ghosts. The town that Norman lives in comes under an old curse and he embarks on an adventure to save it from ghosts, zombies, witches and grown-ups. The film features the voices of Kodi Smit-McPhee, Casey Affleck, Tempestt Bledsoe, Jeff Garlin, John Goodman, Bernard Hill, Anna Kendrick, Leslie Mann, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Tucker Albrizzi, Alex Borstein, Jodelle Ferland, and Elaine Stritch.
Here's the full synopsis:

In the middle of February, I was able to visit Laika Studios in Hillsboro, Oregon to get an early look at their upcoming 3D stop-motion movie ParaNorman. As a big stop-motion fan, it was incredibly cool to get a behind-the-scenes look at how it all comes together, and to see where they made their last film, Coraline. While I assumed the process of making a stop-motion movie doesn't change, when I visited Laika I learned that new technology is helping to make ParaNorman one of the most technically advanced stop-motion movies ever made, and some of what they're using is straight out of an episode of Star Trek. And the best part: the technology will soon be in everyone's homes! Hit the jump for more. Before going any further, if you haven't seen the trailer for director Sam Fell and Chris Butler's ParaNorman, I'd watch that first. The voices you'll hear are Casey Affleck, »

The upcoming animated feature ParaNorman includes multiple zombies and ghosts, and a number characters from the film will be released as action figures this summer. Even if you aren’t planning on picking up all of them, we thought readers may be interested in the four zombie figures that are being released.

NBC has released a bunch of trailers and clips for a new collection of TV series that they have been developing. We've got stuff from 1600 Penn, Infamous, Save Me, Next Caller, Do No Harm, The New Normal, Guys With Kids, and Go On. It will be interesting to what shows make it and what shows end up on the chopping block. Check out the trailers and clips and let us know which ones look good to you!
1600 Penn:
“1600 Penn” — The Gilchrists are just the average American family dealing with all the everyday issues – like a grown kid who’s forced to move back home, children who are smarter than their teachers and a stepmom (Jenna Elfman, “Dharma and Greg”) desperately trying to win over the kids. They’re loving, fun and a little crazy. In other words, just like everybody else. With one exception: they live in a very special house. »

Now that NBC's 2012-2013 lineup and schedule is set, the network has released trailers for some of its upcoming new series.
From a (presumably failed) adoption attempt in the trailer for Ryan Murphy's "The New Normal" to Matthew Perry's character's effort to have everyone in his grief group to share their sob stories in five seconds in "Go On," each trailer hints that the 2012-2013 will be a unique season for NBC.
Check out the trailers for "Go On," "The New Normal" and more below:
"Go On" Misery loves company. Unless you're sportscaster Ryan King (Matthew Perry) who thinks misery should just be left alone. After taking some time off, Ryan –- who recently lost his wife in a car accident -– is now ready to get back to work. And while he seems like his same old charming, cocky self, his boss won't set him back on »

In expanding its comedy footprint to four nights a week, NBC picked up "Guys With Kids" for the 2012-13 season, whcih is a half-hour sitcom being executive-produced by "Late Night" host Jimmy Fallon. It stars Anthony Anderson, Jesse Bradford and Zach Cregger as, you guessed it, three guys with kids.
The above trailer promise that these guys "make fatherhood fun," like wrestling with a milk-a-in-bar dilemma and making a very outdated "Alive" joke. There's the single guy (Bradford), the working guy (Cregger) and the stay-at-home guy (Anderson), whose working wife is "Cosby Show" alum Tempestt Bledsoe.
It's hard to tell just by the trailers, but "Guys With Kids" doesn't grab us nearly as much as "The New Normal" does. What do you think, Zappers?
"Guys With Kids" is slated to air Wednesday nights at 8:30 p.m. Et/Pt, paired with other new comedy "Animal Practice." »

One of the best parts of my job here at the site is the opportunity to visit movie sets. In four and a half years, I've traveled around the world to get a first-hand glimpse at dozens of different productions, but in all that time, I don't think I've ever visited a set quite like the 3D stop-motion animated tale ParaNorman, which hits theaters August 17.
Back in January, I traveled up to the Laika Studios facility in Hillsboro, Oregon, a sprawling 150,000 square-foot complex which houses hundreds of talented artists, designers, animators, and technicians. This was my first time visiting the set of a stop-motion animation project, and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. It didn't take long before I was blown away by the whole process, and their painstaking attention to detail. We were met by Georgina Hayns (creative superviser/puppet fabrication) and Brian McLean (Director of rapid prototype »

In advance of their official Upfronts presentation on Monday, NBC jumped the gun to be the first network to unveil their complete 2012-2013 schedule on Sunday.
The biggest story? "Community" is moving to Fridays, along with sophomore sitcom "Whitney," which will kick off that rather random new night of programming.
"Smash" is also being bumped -- all the way to midseason -- to make way for the premiere of "Revolution," a new thriller from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke, which will air after "The Voice" on Mondays. And yes, that means "The Voice" will be back in the fall, giving it two cycles a year, as predicted.
NBC will also try their hand at airing comedies on Tuesday nights, with Matthew Perry's "Go On" and Ryan Murphy's "Th New Normal" getting paired together.
Also being saved for midseason are new sitcoms "Save Me," "1600 Penn" and "Next Caller," and new dramas "Do No Harm, »

Chicago – NBC revealed their Fall schedule today and there were multiple surprises including comedies moving to Tuesday and Friday nights (we were wondering where all of the sitcoms would go) and a Fall cycle of the hit singing show “The Voice.” Other major news is that “Smash” is being held for mid-season. The network also revealed that six new shows — two dramas, four comedies — will premiere in the Fall.
The big news for comedy fans is that Thursdays have been tinkered with again as the final season of “30 Rock” will kick off the night at 7pm Cst, followed by “Up All Night,” “The Office,” and “Parks and Recreation.” In the 9pm Cst timeslot that was the kiss of death last season with “Prime Suspect,” “The Firm,” and “Awake,” the network has given up and will air the low-rated but inexpensive “Rock Center with Brian Williams.”

NBC Renews Whitney, Picks Up Dane Cook Comedy
NBC has given a second season order to Whitney, the eponymous comedy from stand-up comedian Whitney Cummings. Though it may have been critically ignored/reviled, the show had a pretty steady fanbase, thriving in a move from the post-Office slot to leading off Wednesday nights. The most logical pairing for the show would be the only multi-cam that NBC ordered to series - Guys with Kids, starring Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Tempestt Bledsoe, Anthony Anderson, and Jesse Bradford. The network had several other multi-cams in development, including a sitcom from Roseanne, but they failed to pick anything else up.
NBC has also picked up a final comedy pilot in Next Caller, starring Dane Cook as a radio host for a relationship-themed call-in show. Deadline is reporting that the show, which features Collette Wolfe, Joy Osmanski, and Ryan Devlin, is being considered for midseason and »

Hey, "What to Expect When You're Expecting" fans, NBC on Wednesday (May 9) picked up the Jimmy Fallon-produced "Guys with Kids" -- a comedy about a group of 30-something dads who don't think they're mature enough to raise children, despite the fact that they already have them.
Apparently ignoring W.C. Fields' advice to "never work with animals or children," the cast includes Anthony Anderson, Jesse Bradford and "Cosby Show" alumna Tempestt Bledsoe. The working title for the show, notes IMDb, was the snappy "DILFs." But maybe NBC is saving the "Ilf" for a real-life "Milf Island." (See "30 Rock").
Unlike the four single-camera comedies already ordered by NBC, "Dads with Kids" will be a multi-camera sitcom -- all the better to capture the awkward baby-inspired hilarity, no doubt. »

Some more next season TV news for the day... First, NBC has ordered a full season of Chicago Fire, a new action/drama from Law & Order creator Dick Wolf. The series will follow the lives of the men and women of the Chicago Fire Department, and stars Taylor Kinney, Jesse Spencer, Monica Raymund, David Eigenberg, our man Eamonn Walker and others. No info yet on character breakdowns. Se ondly, NBC also picked up a Jimmy Fallon-produced comedy titled Guys With Kids, which centers on a group of 30-something friends who are also all fathers. The 3 guys will be played by Jesse Bradford, Anthony Anderson, and Zach Cregger. The cast of the pilot also will also include Tempestt Bledsoe and Jamie-Lynn Sigler. I'd guess probably as wives. As is always the case around this time of the year, with new shows being announced, let's see which of these shows is »
