Isobel Black's interest in education was extended when she became a Governor of The Southampton Institute in 1994, as the institute was evolving into Solent University.
Under her married name, Mrs. I.A.S. Gatward, Isobel Black since 1987 and as of 2015 is the Director of the Board of Trustees for London's Mayflower Theatre Trust.
