Rodney Bingenheimer was born on December 15, 1947 in Mountain View, California, USA as Rodney Ray Bingenheimer. He is known for his work on Mayor of the Sunset Strip (2003), End of the Century (2003) and Up in Smoke (1978).

Long time DJ on Los Angeles station KROQ-FM and area clubs.
Hosts the radio show "Rodney on the 'Roq" after LoveLine on 106.7 KROQ, from midnight to 3 AM.
Appeared as an extra during various 1960s TV guest appearances by major rock n' roll bands of the era. Auditioned for the part in "The Monkees" TV show that eventually went to Davy Jones, but was so strikingly similar in appearance he was hired as Davy's stand-in on the show.
His nickname, "Mayor of the Sunset Strip", was coined by Sal Mineo
He was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Radio at 7021 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California.
Is portrayed by Keir O'Donnell in The Runaways (2010).
Still living in Los Angeles, CA. Has a star on the "Hollywood Walk of Fame", near his long time friend David Bowie's star. [October 2009]
