6 April 2016 8:00 PM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Director Vishal Bhardwaj heaped lavish praise on his ‘Rangoon’ actress Kangana Ranaut while speaking to media at a recent event.

Talking about the three-time National Award-winning actress, Bhardwaj said that Kangana is not just intellegent, but also very hard-working. The highly-acclaimed filmmaker even complimented Kangana on her fine acting skills. In fact, wowed by her dedication and impressive acting, his unit had earlier referred to Kangana as a ‘one-take actor’.

Interestingly, both the filmmaker and the actress have received National Awards for two years in a row now (Bhardwaj for (Haider and Talvar) Kangana for Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns) and are currently busy shooting for the classic romance ‘Rangoon’ in Mumbai.

Well impressing a filmmaker who features on just about every actor’s must-work-with list is certainly no mean feat, but for Kangana, her flawless performance on-camera seems to have done it for her with ease!

Lin Laishram is all set to make her presence felt in Bollywood. The gorgeous model from Manipur will be seen playing a rather interesting role in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon.

Talking about her struggle in B-Town, Lin admits that people do tend to stereotype her based on their looks, but she insists that she prefers to focus on the positivity. “I think it’s a great time for actors. So, while I can’t say that the entire concept of the typical Indian beauty has changed, it is certainly evolving. Actresses here are already redefining the Bollywood beauty and I am only happy to be a part of that brigade. So I am not bound by boundaries, nor by looks,” states the actress, who was in consideration for the lead role of Mary Kom in the Omung Kumar biopic until Priyanka Chopra bagged it,

Turbaned no more Shahid Kapoor abandons pagdi in Rangoon

It is a case of too many too soon. With a whole lot of our Bollywood stars playing Sikhs in recent films, and some more coming up-Vicky Kaushal in Zubaan and Tiger Shroff in The Flying Jatt - Shahid Kapoor will no more be playing a turbaned Sikh in Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon. According to sources close to the project, that was the original plan. "Shahid has never played a Sardarji before. And it was felt he would look dapper in a turban. But then, a whole lot of stars like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar appeared on screen as a Sardarji. So, Vishal Bhardwaj dropped the idea of casting Shahid as a Sardarji." The actor's role has now been altered. Apparently, Shahid Kapoor now plays a Muslim character, as it was important to cast him in a culture-specific part as the film, according to a source in the know, »

She is also very professional in her approach. For instance, there’s a particular scene, which required her to feed a Japanese prisoner.
