Laura Betti was born on May 1, 1927 in Casalecchio di Reno, Emilia-Romagna, Italy as Laura Trombetti. She was an actress and director, known for 1900 (1976), La Dolce Vita (1960) and The Canterbury Tales (1972). She died on July 31, 2004 in Rome, Lazio, Italy.

Started her career as a jazz singer before her acting debut in Federico Fellini's La Dolce Vita (1960).
Was remembered particularly for her long friendship with director Pier Paolo Pasolini, after his death, she dedicated herself to preserving his memory and life's work, including poetry and a well-received documentary about him.
