For awhile now, there has been a Star Wars fan theory sweeping across the internet that claims Jar Jar Binks is actually a Sith Lord. First introduced in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, the man behind this much-loathed creature agrees with this assessment about Darth Jar Jar. And if you've been wondering what an evil Jar Jar sounds like, Ahmed Best is displaying that in a new video.
Earlier this year, Jamie Stangroom sat down with Ahmed Best for what could be described as a slightly depressing interview. In it, the comedian whose career was tanked by appearing in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, made the bold declaration that he'd never return to the Star Wars universe. And he basically blames the franchise for ruining his career. Stangroom is back with yet another interview, and this time, he gets Ahmed to share his feelings »
It's not easy being semi-responsible for one of the most despised movie characters of all time, but Ahmed Best, who brought Jar Jar Binks to life in the "Star Wars" prequels and cemented his place in film infamy, seems to have taken it in stride. Best was interviewed by British journalist Jamie Stangroom for Stangroom's YouTube series where he talks to some lesser-known actors from the "Star Wars" franchise. Best says he was performing in "Stomp" when he was cast as Jar Jar. Initially, he was just the motion capture actor, but George Lucas ended up using his voice for the part as well. Best didn't expect the character to be so reviled (who would?) and admits that it was "painful" and he took it "a little bit" personally. "You put a lot of your own personality into it and you get emotionally and personally invested in the work that you do, »

Everyone can breath a sigh of relief, at least for a little bit. Jar Jar Binks will probably never appear in a future Star Wars movie, even a spinoff that takes place within the prequel timeline. At least not played by the actor that originated the Gungun in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. Ahmed Best has confirmed that he is 100% done with the character. Here's what he had to say to Jamie Stangroom on the Youtube series These Are the Actors You are Looking For. Asked if he would ever return, the actor is quite adamant.
"No, I think I've done my damage. I'm good with where I stand in the Star Wars universe. I don't need to be back. [If I was asked], I would say no. I'm not interested in coming back. I did what I did and I thought it was great. I thought it was fun. And »
With praise continuing to rain in on Jj Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a new YouTube series has gone back over the past of Star Wars, and tracked down some of the cast of the earlier movies. The latest episode of These Are The Actors You're Looking For secured interview time with Ahmed Best, who - of course - played Jar Jar Binks in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. And Best had lots of interesting things to say.
"I mean, this character for me and one of the biggest reasons I took »
Finding a Star Wars fan who loves Jar-Jar Binks is about as easy as winning the lottery, and the character has become perhaps the most despised character in the entire franchise. While George Lucas ditched the Gungan in the follow-ups to The Phantom Menace, actor Ahmed Best has never been able to escape the role, and has now made it clear that he'll never return to voice Jar-Jar again (despite lending his voice to The Clone Wars a few years back). "No, I think I’ve done my damage," he says in the video above. "Yeah. I’m good with where I stand in the Star Wars universe. I don’t need to do that. I’m not really interested in coming back. I did what I did, I thought it was great, I thought it was fun, and now it’s time to move on." Best goes into great »
With any type of artistic endeavor, it.s difficult to pour your heart and soul into something.a movie, a book, a show, a painting.only to have people tear it apart and shit all over it. Usually there.s a time limit on this and before long people will move on to crap on something new, but that.s not always the case. On occasion something like, say, Jar Jar Binks from George Lucas. Star Wars prequels, is so reviled that the criticism never stops. Even after all these years, Ahmed Best, who portrays the hapless, much-maligned Gungan, says the insults still sting. Ahmed Best was recently interviewed for a YouTube series called These Are The Actors You.re Looking For, where they track down actors who played a part in the Star Wars saga and ask them about their experiences. When the subject of his legacy as one »
There's a lot of anger and resentment towards the "Star Wars" prequels with a good portion of it directed at Jar Jar Binks, the CG character who came to represent everything wrong with that trilogy.
Underneath that CG though was actor Ahmed Best, a talented thesp who has since been stuck with over a decade of dealing with the fallout of Jar Jar. Speaking with the YouTube series These Are The Actors You're Looking For, Best did a ten-minute chat in which he paints a not so happy picture about the backlash and how it has impacted him:
"Star Wars was my first 'most hated' title in anything really. It was painful. One of the biggest reasons I took it was because of the challenge of it - there was no Andy Serkis and Gollum, Na'vi from Avatar, Martians, John Carter.
I was to be the template for this, so »
