Jay Bernstein was born on June 7, 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA. He was a producer and writer, known for The New Mike Hammer (1984), Mike Hammer, Private Eye (1997) and Playboy: Farrah Fawcett, All of Me (1997). He was married to Cabrina Finn. He died on April 30, 2006 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Farrah Fawcett's former manager.
Producer and Hollywood personal manager.
He always carried a loaded .38 or Beretta pistol in a holster on his back.
He got his start in Hollywood in the mail room of the William Morris talent agency. He eventually opened his own public relations firm, and his clients included Tony Bennett, Faye Dunaway and Brooke Shields. He left PR work to work as a producer, and also promoted the careers of Suzanne Somers and Kristy McNichol, in addition to Farrah Fawcett.
He was known for creative publicity work, such as having Mary Hart's legs insured for a million dollars when she joined Entertainment Tonight (1981).

Five years after his passing, had his controversial best selling memoir posthumously published. Starmaker: Life As A Hollywood Publicist with Farrah, The Rat Pack and over 600 Stars Who Fired Me.

Always carried a cane from a collection of over 1000 jewel encrusted walking sticks.
Died of a massive stroke in 2006 at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles with client Farrah Fawcett at his bedside.
