Matt Damon May Tackle The Great Wall

21 September 2014 10:41 AM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Despite backing from Legendary boss Thomas Tull as part of his attempt to widen his focus, China-set epic The Great Wall has proven a tricky prospect. It has burnt through at least one director (Ed Zwick) and several potential cast members in its journey to the screen. Just as it starts to look like it’ll take longer to make than the structure it chronicles, word has arrived that Matt Damon might be interested in starring, which could certainly move things along. As of right now, it’s only something Damon is considering, but there are compelling reasons for him to take it. Not least of those is the chance to work with director Zhang Yimou, who is currently developing the film. Carlos Bernard and Doug Miro wrote a draft of the script, but Bourne veteran Tony Gilroy has produced the most recent version, which could also have attracted Damon’s interested. »

Netflix is going after the drugs in its latest original series. Wagner Moura -- Brazil's top film star according to Netflix -- will play drug trafficker and politician Pablo Escobar in the original series, "Narcos," from Jose Padilha and Gaumont International Television. The series will reunite Padilha and Moura who teamed up before on "Elite Squad," a Brazilian action and political film that was followed by a sequel titled "The Enemy Within." Indiewire's Chief Film Critic Eric Kohn wasn't too hot on the sequel, saying it "has less success than the first installment [...] but still keeps the snazzy combination of spectacle and polemics in check." The series will be executive produced by Padilha, Eric Newman ("Children of Men"), Chris Brancato ("Hannibal"), and the team of Doug Miro and Carlos Bernard. 24: Live Another Day Premiere Date Revealed; Yvonne Strahovski and More Join Cast

13 January 2014 12:23 PM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Fans of 24 have been patiently waiting for the series to receive a proper conclusion ever since season 8 ended on a cliffhanger way back in 2010. For years, a big screen continuation was promised, but numerous attempts to bring Jack Bauer back to life failed again and again (everything from script issues to Kiefer Sutherland being unhappy with the amount of money Fox were offering were given as the reason why).

Well, following last year’s announcement that a 12 episode event series was being planned, we now know that 24: Live Another Day will debut (in the Us at least) with a special two-hour premiere on Monday, May 5th. The official press release also confirms earlier reports that it will be both set and shot in London, with the focus again on Jack as “he attempts to thwart an unthinkable terrorist attack that could change the world forever.”
