His trademark nicknames actually started by accident. According to him, he and his buddies used to drink what they called "Frank Tanana Daquiris", and one day on camera, when he mentioned Frank Tanana, he ended up saying Frank Tanana Daquiri without even thinking about it. This caused the technical director to shout "What?!" in his ear, and one of the camera men starting laughing so hard he was actually shaking the camera up and down.
Winner of the 2010 Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award, given annually by the Pro Football Hall of Fame "for longtime exceptional contributions to radio and television in professional football".
Is a huge fan of the Buffalo Bills and best friends with Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly.
Is an avid fan of the Canadian Football League (CFL); he is known to cover CFL games on a regular basis.
