The cast of ABC's Dirty Dancing, a three-hour TV remake, is starting to come together, now that Abigail Breslin and Colt Prattes have been set as the two leads. Deadline reports today that Katey Sagal has signed on to join the cast, with production set to begin this week in North Carolina. The actress is playing Vivian Pressman, a role originally portrayed by Miranda Garrison in the 1987 hit movie.
Vivian Pressman is described as a "bungalow bunny," a former beauty queen who spends her free time trying to seduce the younger male workers at the Kellerman resort, such as Colt Prattes' Johnny Castle. Einhorn has been cast as geeky, Baby-crushing Neil Kellerman in ABC’s three-hour Dirty Dancing remake, TVLine has learned. Neil takes an immediate interest in Baby, which her father strongly supports, much to Baby’s embarrassment. The role of Max’s tightly wound grandson was played in the original film by Lonny Price.

Bruce Greenwood, who’s currently co-starring in FX’s American Crime Story, The People vs. Oj Simpson, has been tapped to play Houseman patriarch Jake opposite Debra Messing’s Marjorie in ABC’s three-hour Dirty Dancing remake, TVLine has learned.
The role of Dr. Houseman was played in the original film by the late Jerry Orbach.

Previously announced cast members include dancer Colt Prattes (as Johnny), The Mysteries of Laura‘s Debra Messing (as Baby’s mother, Marjorie Houseman) and former Pussycat Dolls frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger as Penny.
Newcomer Colt Prattes, who is best known for his appearance in P!nk’s music video for “Try”, has been cast in the iconic Patrick Swayze role of Johnny in ABC and Lionsgate’s upcoming TV remake of Dirty Dancing.
The three-hour musical will see Prattes joining Abigail Breslin (Scream Queens) as Baby and Debra Messing (Will & Grace) as Baby’s mother. Wayne Blair (The Sapphires) is directing from a script by Jessica Sharzer (The L Word), while Allison Shearmur (The Hunger Games) and Eleanor Bergstein, writer of the original movie, will serve as executive producers.

ABC have revealed the actor to play the iconic Patrick Swayze role of Johnny Castle in their upcoming Dirty Dancing TV special. Colt Prattes will take the part, playing opposite Abigail Breslin, who will play Baby Houseman.
Actor and dancer Prattes will play Castle, leader of the working-class entertainment staff at an early 1960s Catskill Mountains, so reports The Wrap. Debra Messing will play the role of Majorie Houseman, mother of Baby.
Allison Shearmur and the original film’s screenwriter Eleanor Bergstein, who also adapted the film for the stage, will executive produce. Jessica Sharzer adapted the film for television, and Wayne Blair will direct with “Hamilton’s” Andy Blankenbuehler choreographing.
No word on when this one is due, but we’re assuming later this year/ early next.

ABC's Dirty Dancing is said to be a three-hour musical special, but it won't be airing live like popular specials such as NBC's The Wiz Live! and Fox's Grease: Live. Instead, it will be filmed prior to broadcast, much like Fox's upcoming The Rocky Horror Picture Show Event. Debra Messing has been cast in ABC’s adaptation of “Dirty Dancing,” it was announced Thursday.
