Toy Story 4 Writers Left Over Pixar Head's Alleged Misconduct

Toy Story 4 Writers Left Over Pixar Head's Alleged Misconduct
John Lasseter, head of Pixar and Walt Disney Animation, is the latest Hollywood power player to be embroiled in a sexual harassment scandal, with a new report claiming his behavior affected the highly-anticipated sequel Toy Story 4. It has been revealed that original Toy Story 4 writers Rashida Jones and Will McCormack left the project shortly after they were announced as the screenwriters, after John Lasseter made an unwanted advance. Neither Rashida Jones nor Will McCormack commented on the story, while a Pixar rep claimed their departure was due to "creative differences." Both Rashida Jones and Will McCormack are still credited as the Toy Story 4 writers on the movie's IMDb page.

This report doesn't offer any specific details about what this "unwanted advance" may have been, but if it happened shortly after they came aboard, it likely happened more than three years ago. Toy Story 4 was first announced

Another D23, a massive Disney fan event, is now behind us. Over the weekend, the Anaheim convention centre was transformed into the ultimate Disney fan HQ with autograph signings by stars, fan photo ops, and all kinds of exclusive merch. It also turns into the hub of entertainment news, with 3 days of big, star-filled panels. While that was happening, I was busy covering the red carpet behind the stage, talking with all the filmmakers and stars, while a crowd of thousands of fans erupted at the big announcements being made on the other side of the wall. I did run into a few Canadian fans on the convention floor over the weekend, but in case you weren’t there,

Wreck-It Ralph 2 adds James Corden and Jodi Benson

Brendon Connelly Feb 1, 2017

The voice of The Little Mermaid, Jodi Benson, and James Corden have been added to the Wreck-It Ralph 2 cast...

Work on Wreck it Ralph 2 is currently at a very advanced storyboarding stage, with directors Rich Moore and Phil Johnston in the midst of fixing up, wrecking, then fixing up again their animatic 'story reels,' all on the way to full-steam-ahead CG production. At the same time, recording is underway with the cast, both old and new.

And this is how we've received a first indication that the cast will include Jodi Benson, the voice of Ariel in The Little Mermaid and Barbie in the Toy Story films. She posted a picture to her Instagram that shows her hanging out with Moore and the film's producer (not to mention leading Fix-It Felix lookalike) Clark Spencer.

"So very honored to be working with Oscar nominated & Golden Globe

Schuyler Sister, Disney Princess?

With Hamilton fever not relenting any time soon, we're starting to get excited for Lin-Manuel Miranda's next projects, including the resucitated In the Heights movie adaptation and Mary Poppins sequel with Emily Blunt. But we won't have to wait years for his next musical feat: he's partnered with Disney for the music on November's animated Moana.

But he's taking some Hamilton family with him: castmate and Schuyler Sister Phillipa Soo has joined the vocal cast which also includes Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and newcomer Auli'i Cravalho.

The casting doesn't come with details on her character beyond "villager", with much of the South Pacific-set animated film still under wraps, but surely you're thinking what I'm thinking. Could Soo be following the likes of Idina Menzel and Jodi Benson from Broadway leading lady to Disney princess? Besides, aren't Schuyler Sisters already the girl power heroes we always hope new Disney princesses will be?

Rebel Wilson as Ursula, more highlights from ‘The Little Mermaid’ live
Disney fans were in for a massive smile-inducing and tear-jerking event at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on Friday when a 71-piece orchestra and talented vocal line-up performed the music of The Little Mermaid live to picture at a concert screening. Among the cast taking on the roles in the beloved 1989 animated film were Sara Bareilles as Ariel, Rebel Wilson as Ursula, Tituss Burgess as Sebastian, Darren Criss as Prince Eric, and John Stamos as Chef Louis. In a post-Merida, post-Elsa world, Ariel’s tale of longing to leave her father’s home and adventure into another world still resonates with audiences. The ever-catchiness of the music does too. That was evident as the power of nostalgia and the promise of a solid cast packed the Hollywood Bowl at Friday night’s show. The 17,000-seat venue had sold out within three hours, and two more shows were added (for Saturday and Monday) to meet demand.

There are going to be So many treats for Disney fans at the ‘Little Mermaid’ concert screenings

The event’s creative director, Richard Kraft, has told HitFix the deets on all the exciting plans for the three shows that are sure to make Disney fans squee. But events like this, for a musical, with live singing timed to picture, are new. As far as Kraft is aware, last Halloween

In the midst of some reporting of his departure, it had been stated that said behaviour had been the catalyst for original writers Rashida Jones and Will McCormack leaving Toy Story 4.

But in a statement to the New York Times, the pair have revealed the reason for leaving the film.

“The breakneck speed at which journalists have been naming the next perpetrator renders some reporting irresponsible. We did not leave Pixar because of unwanted advances. That is untrue.
