Robot Chicken Season Five

5 November 2011 10:48 AM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

As is the new habit in basic cable, the Cartoon Network split the current season of its hilarious Robot Chicken into two halves, airing the first part of the fifth season late last year and then, a few weeks ago kicking off the second season. Where they didn’t follow the script was releasing Robot Chicken Season 5 on DVD just days after the second half debuted October 23.

All 20 episodes are included and I am late in bringing this to your attention because I have been savoring the installments, catching up on what has aired, and working ahead. The show, from co-creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, available on Blu-ray and standard DVD in separate packages. And as has become their wont, there are hours of bonus features, some exclusive to the Blu-ray edition, which was not sent for review.

Last year, the show won a much-deserved Emmy Award for Outstanding »

Team Unicorn's 'Alien Beach Crashers!': Where the Geeks At?

15 July 2011 3:59 PM, PDT | Planet Fury | See recent Planet Fury news »

If you are sick of hearing about the hot geek girl phenomena--too bad. I'm going to talk about it again and you will have to deal with it. Personally, the hot geek girl "problem" annoys me. It annoys me solely because it's a problem that there are hot geeks. Who fucking cares again? Oh right, almost everyone. And That is a problem.

The thing is, very few people come out of the womb hot. When you start off exploring your inner geek self, slowly and with a mirror in the privacy of your bedroom, you are probably young and not yet at the stage where it is acceptable to shower every day. Get it? The majority of these hot geek girls were probably geeks before they were hot. I mean it. Hollywood does crazy things to people--like give them money so that they can buy nice clothes, have someone do »

Tons of clips in today's update, so keep scrolling till you see Patton Oswalt. ;)

The second part of the interview The Gaming Liberty did with Bear McCreary has been posted (hit the link for the whole thing). No updates on Blood and Chrome after all. Here are a couple of quotes about Caprica & BSG (note - he is working on an *extended* Caprica soundtrack):

Retroplayer - So with Caprica being cancelled without the chance of a second series and BSG over are you proud of the work you did on them overall? How do you feel looking back?

Bear - I’m very proud of the work I did and contributions I made in helping to create a universe on those two series. I feel that BSG had such a profound influence on my life that even to try and talk about it is a fools errand. It changed me personally, »
