Hywel Bennett was born on April 8, 1944 in Garnant, Carmarthenshire, Wales as Hywel Thomas Bennett. He was an actor, known for Neverwhere (1996), Vatel (2000) and Twisted Nerve (1968). He was married to Sandra Layne Fulford and Cathy McGowan. He died on July 25, 2017.

Brother of Alun Lewis
Godfather of actress Hayley Mills's firstborn son, Crispian Mills.
An Associate Member of RADA.
Appeared three times in films with the budding adult Hayley Mills. The first was his breakthrough role in The Family Way (1966); the second was Twisted Nerve (1968) and the third was Endless Night (1972).
His London stage debut was as Ophelia in "Hamlet" at the opening of the Queen's Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue. The production was staged by the Youth Theatre. It was traditional for men to play female roles in Shakespeare's time, and at 15, Bennett's voice hadn't broken yet. In later years he played the title Dane himself in a South African production.
He joined the National Youth Theatre where he stayed for five years, playing many leading Shakespearian roles.
He was born in Garnant in the Amman Valley but went to Henry Thorton Grammar School in Clapham, London and trained at RADA.
Uncle of Amelia Warner.
Ex-brother-in-law of Annette Ekblom.
Considered for the roles of Caine, Dr.Armstrong, Bukovsky and Roger Derebridge in Lifeforce (1985).
Before being cast in the lengthy cameo role of Tom in Pennies from Heaven (1978), Bennett was on the shortlist for the male lead Arthur Parker (source: Radio Times letter).
Was offered the role of The Monitor, the male guest star of the Doctor Who (1963) serial "Logopolis".
Retired from acting in 2007 after being diagnosed with a congenital heart defect (amidst rumours of being 'difficult' due to a prodigious alcohol intake).
