We told you yesterday that the new film from Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, III, IV; Repo! The Genetic Opera; The Devil's Carnival) would be at Afm, and now we have the pretty wicked sales art to prove it!

Bousman is set to direct Abattoir, which will be produced by Radical Studios. Bousman will work from a screenplay by Christopher Monfette, who adapts the Radical Publishing comic book miniseries created by Bousman.

Currently in pre-production and slated for production in early 2014, Abattoir centers on a Boston real-estate reporter who unearths an urban legend about someone who has spent decades buying homes where horrific tragedies have occurred and piecing them together, ultimately leading to the enigmatic Jebediah Crone and the answer to the terrifying question: How do you build a haunted house?

The producing team is comprised of Radical Studios president Barry Levine (Oblivion), Hydraulx CEO Greg Strause (Skyline), Brent Bell »

First Trailer Werewolf Horror ‘Wer’ From ‘The Devil Inside’ Director

4 October 2013 7:35 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Coming ‘From the producer of Insidious and Paranormal Activity and filmmakers of The Devil Inside’, is lycan-themed thriller Wer. Yes, some fool has allowed William Brent Bell back behind the camera of another genre effort, despite some truly woeful reviews for his previous two fright flicks. His surprise box-office hit The Devil Inside causing genuine outrage from horror fans for not only being not at all scary but a seriously shocking finale (not in a good either either).

Criminal Minds actress A.J. Cook leads the film as a defence attorney who begins to suspect that her client, charged with the murders of a vacationing family, may well be werwolf. Those hoping Bell has vacated the found-footage format will be sadly disappointed. Yes, it’s that shite again!

Check out the first trailer of the film co-starring Brian J. O’Connor, Sebastian Roché, Vik Sahay, Stephanie Lemelin, Simon Quarterman and Brian Johnson. »

Poster for Wer Revealed, from the Director of The Devil Inside

17 September 2013 1:56 PM, PDT | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

In the wake of The Devil Inside's opening weekend success in early 2012, news broke that director William Brent Bell was moving forward with a new thriller: Wer.

A.J. Cook, Simon Quarterman and Brian J. O'Connor were cast and the film lensed last year.  Set in Paris, the film follows an investigation of a gruesome slaying of a family. Sahay is a member of the defense team which learns its client (O’Connor), who is suspect in the slayings, is a werewolf.

We haven't hear much about the film since then, however, today a poster hit IMPAwards and you can find it after the jump.  FilmDistrict (Insidious) has apparently acquired the film; stay tuned for release news.

First Poster For Lycan Horror ‘Wer’

17 September 2013 9:33 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

With a one-sheet emblazoned with the words “From the producer of Insidious and Paranormal Activity and filmmakers of The Devil Inside’, I have to admit I don’t hold much hope for werewolf-themed thriller Wer. While the first Insidious was decent enough thrill ride (I’ve yet to catch the sequel), but those countless Paranormal Activity efforts became yawnsome, not helped by the over-hyped first film. As the for The Devil Inside? Well, woefull would be an understatement!

William Brent Bell has been allowed back behind the camera (for what reason we’re still unsure) for lycanthropic thriller Wer. A.J. Cook leads the film as a defence attorney who begins to suspect that her client, charged with the murders of a vacationing family, might be holding out on a hairy secret!

Judge for yourself to see if Wer is worth giving Bell another go at the genre with that first poster. »

22 July 2013 5:44 PM, PDT | Alt Film Guide | See recent Alt Film Guide news »

The Conjuring movie may have broken horror genre box-office record - even considering inflation (photo: paranormal investigator Patrick Wilson in The Conjuring) James Wan’s Warner Bros.-distributed horror movie The Conjuring, starring Patrick Wilson (Little Children, Watchmen) and 2009 Best Supporting Actress Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air), opened with more than twice its reported $20 million production budget at 2,903 North American venues this past weekend, July 19-21, 2013. According to weekend box-office actuals found at Box Office Mojo, The Conjuring took in an outstanding $41.85 million — including an estimated $3.31 million from Thursday evening and midnight screenings. The horror movie also earned an additional $3.4 million internationally. Which movie is the box-office record holder in the original R-rated horror movie category? Low-Budget Horror Movie Leaves Costly Fare Far Behind at Domestic Box Office

21 July 2013 1:26 AM, PDT | Alt Film Guide | See recent Alt Film Guide news »

The Conjuring: ‘True story’ horror movie box office beats (much) costlier competition (Photo: Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson in The Conjuring) James Wan’s $20 million-budgeted horror movie The Conjuring, starring Best Supporting Actress Academy Award nominee Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air) and Patrick Wilson, may end up grossing about twice its production cost at the North American box office this weekend, July 19-21, 2013. According to studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo, The Conjuring scored a highly impressive $17.03 million from 2,903 venues on Friday — including $3.31 million from Thursday evening and midnight screenings. That means Wan’s generally well-received effort (see below) may end up boasting the biggest domestic opening ever for an original R-rated horror movie — well, if you pretend inflation doesn’t exist. Now, inflation plays no role among this weekend’s films: The Conjuring has been leaving far behind three other (way costlier) new releases: DreamWorks Animation’s »

Latest Horror Movie to Break Opening-Weekend Record at Domestic Box Office?

19 July 2013 5:19 PM, PDT | Alt Film Guide | See recent Alt Film Guide news »

The Conjuring box office: Biggest opening weekend ever for an original R-rated horror movie? (Photo: Vera Farmiga in The Conjuring) The Conjuring, James Wan’s low-budget horror movie starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, collected an impressive $3.31 million from Thursday midnight screenings (July 18-19, 2013) according to studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo. That site’s Ray Subers is expecting The Conjuring, which has a somewhat surprising 84% approval rating and 7.3/10 average among Rotten Tomatoes‘ top critics, to gross close to $38 million from 2,903 locations by Sunday evening — thus leaving far behind this weekend’s crowded competition, which includes DreamWorks Animation’s Turbo, the Ryan Reynolds / Jeff Bridges actioner R.I.P.D., and the Bruce Willis / Mary-Louise Parker action sequel Red 2. (Update: “The Conjuring: ‘True Story’ Horror Movie Box Office Beats Costlier Competition.”) If Subers is right, the $20 million-budgeted The Conjuring will boast the biggest domestic opening ever for an original R-rated horror movie — that is, »

Mark Neveldine to Direct The Vatican Tapes

12 February 2013 11:36 AM, PST | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

Say it ain't so! For better or worse, it appears that the directing duo known as Neveldine/Taylor have decided to go their separate ways, each branching out to direct a movie on their own. Fortunately, this does not appear to be a result of a disagreement or falling out but rather a desire to try something new and potentially grow as filmmakers. Last year we learned that Brian Taylor would be writing and directing a Twisted Metal movie for Sony based on the popular video game series. While that makes a lot of sense based on his experience with insane action movies like the Crank series, Mark Neveldine's own solo effort is a little more surprising. This week it has been announced that he will take on a supernatural thriller called The Vatican Tapes. According to Variety, Lakeshore Entertainment has set Neveldine to direct The Vatican Tapes, a »
