Kristen Bell, Gaumont Television Team on ‘Do, Re & Me’

6 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Paris — Gaumont Television is partnering up with Kristen Bell (“Frozen,” “Bad Moms”) on “Do, Re & Mi,” an animated musical series featuring original songs performed by Bell (“Frozen”) and American Idol finalist Jackie Tohn, among other guests.

“Music has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I hope this show will inspire a new generation of Kids and expose them to the benefits of music, which can be incredibly inspirational, encouraging and fun all at the same time,” said Bell, who is exec producing the series with digital expert Ivan Askwith.

The series, which will comprise 52 episodes of 11 minutes, underscores Gaumont Television’s ambition to deliver high-profile, talent-driven animated series for global audiences, in line with its editorial line for drama series (“Narcos,” “Hannibal”).

“Do, Re & Me” is the first project carried on by Nicolas Atlan, who was recently appointed president of animation for Gaumont and is working out of the »

9 Lessons Studio Films Should Take From The Indie World This Summer

25 August 2016 9:54 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Much has been written about just how dismal this year’s summer movies have been, but one of the silver linings in such a poor season has remarkably been indies. Where blockbusters like “The Legend Of Tarzan,” “Warcraft” and “X-Men: Apocalypse” failed, indies such as “The Lobster,” “Cafe Society” and “Love and Friendship” succeeded. And while studios were certainly rolling in cash when it came to “Suicide Squad” and “The Secret Life Of Pets,” critics weren’t exactly impressed. It was a rough season for studio films, but it won’t be a total waste if executives can learn from their mistakes and start course correcting. Below, we look towards the indie world in order to offer up the biggest lessons for studio films.

Movie Review – Bad Moms (2016)

24 August 2016 2:40 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Bad Moms, 2016.

Written and directed by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore.

Starring Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Christina Applegate, Jada Pinkett Smith and Jay Hernandez.

Synopsis:

When three overworked and under-appreciated moms are pushed beyond their limits, they ditch their conventional responsibilities for a jolt of long overdue freedom, fun, and comedic self-indulgence.

The fact that writer-directors Jon Lucas and Scott Moore make a conscious effort to state their film’s title in excess of ten times throughout is a key indicator of just how remarkably false it is: an awkward and vapid droid carved from the entrails of the equally dour The Hangover franchise, Bad Moms is so disastrously unfunny and tonally misjudged that every time the leading ladies bellow out their newly-adopted branding, you can’t help but grimace.

Like so many modern comedies, little attention is paid to story and character because we simply don’t »

The CW's Frequency Is Not Your Typical Time Traveling Show

10 August 2016 8:10 AM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

While there are quite a few new shows centered around time travel this Fall, Frequency is worth a look. Not only does the CW series include some very interesting sci-fi elements, but it also has a hearty dose of mystery and drama. If that doesn't sell you, it's also created by Supernatural writer/producer Jeremy Carver. Who's Starring? Peyton List (remember Jane from Mad Men?), Riley Smith, Mekhi Phifer, Anthony Ruivivar, Lenny Jacobson, Devin Kelley, and Daniel Bonjour What It's About The reboot of the 2000 film of the same name is about a woman (List) who accidentally alters the present when an old ham radio helps her get in contact with her deceased father who is 20 years in the past. First Impression After watching the first episode, I'm hooked; the pilot has plenty of twists and turns that left me wanting the next episode. Comedy Central Mocks The Celebrity Interview Circuit With ‘Junketeers’

4 August 2016 3:21 PM, PDT | Tubefilter.com | See recent Tubefilter News news »

At press junkets, journalists and TV hosts fulfill their obligations to their viewers and employers by asking celebrities the same three questions over and over again. Now, that process -- which is ripe for mockery -- is the subject of a new web series called Junketeers, which comes from Comedy Central, production company Kids At Play, and Lexus’ LStudio.

Junketeers follows five members of the press who invariably run into each other at each press event that rolls through their city. Their personalities range from deeply depressive to obnoxiously bubbly, but what brings them together is their ability to annoy all the celebrities they interview. Each episode features a junket with one well-known actor, and the show’s list of guest stars includes Kristen Bell, Josh Duhamel, and Chloe Grace Moretz. Here’s the first episode, featuring Duhamel as the lead of a fictitious, Oscar-baiting sports movie:
