Watch now! Tabatha Coffey on coming out — twice

I have a soft spot for Tabatha Coffey because she was a contestant on the first show I ever recapped for AfterEllen. Shear Genius didn't last long, and Coffey didn't even win the competition, but she was easily the fan favorite and now she's in her fifth season of doing Tabatha Takes Over for Bravo. Last night she chatted with Joy Behar about growing up in an environment with many transgender women, and about how she had to come out as a lesbian to her mother two times. Watch the clip below:

I couldn't really tell from the interview. How do you think she feels about weddings and babies?

Good afternoon and happy hump day!

Happy birthday to Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Lainie Kazan and the one and only Lori Grant!

Yesterday I mentioned Tricia “Six” Helfer’s new series Killer Women and now you can watch the show’s first trailer below! (It looks good, but it would be even better if Katee Sackhoff joined the cast.)

While I’m eating popcorn and watching HBO’s Behind the Candelabra, Liberace’s real life boy toy Scott Thorson (author of the book that the movie is based on) will be watching from the big house. I didn’t know jails had premium channels.

Head over to NewNowNext for two sneak peeks at Tilda Swinton’s new vampire movie Only Lovers Left Alive. Well I guess we know how the movie ends.

Good morning, Brewbies! Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton held a ceremony on the south steps of the Capitol yesterday afternoon where he officially signed marriage equality into law. He told the cheering crowd: "What a day for Minnesota, and what a difference a year and election can make in our states. Last year there were concerns that marriage equality would be banned here forever. Now my signature will make it legal in two and a half months." What encouraging words for those of us in the 38 states that are still making the slow crawl toward equality!

It was a tense half hour for lesbian viewers of The Voice last night, but after we held our breathes until we turned purple, we found out that out contestant Michelle Chamuel moved safely into the Top Ten! I mean, how could she not? »

Watch: Hasselbeck Addresses 'View' Rumors

6 May 2013 3:17 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

"View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck responded to questions about the whirlwind of rumors surrounding the ABC daytime talk show on Monday's HuffPost Live.

Co-host Joy Behar has already announced that this would be her last season on "The View." Soon after that news broke, rumors surfaced that the show was looking to replace Hasselbeck as well, citing internal research that reportedly revealed Behar and Hasselbeck's political points of view were alienating some viewers. A few weeks later, multiple outlets reported that Barbara Walters was planning her retirement for May 2014.

When HuffPost Live asked Hasselbeck about her future on the show, the "View" co-host said she had no plans to move. She also dismissed reports about Walters' retirement.

"When Barbara gives it the amen, it can be real," she said. "But until then, I don't even address rumors." She added, "You can decide to talk about rumors all day or you can »

Whoopi Goldberg's Insanely Honest Rant

18 April 2013 1:50 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Whoopi Goldberg made it abundantly clear that she has zero interest in who joins the "View" roundtable.

Earlier this year, longtime "View" co-host Joy Behar announced that she was leaving the ABC daytime show at the end of the season. Reports surfaced that co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck was also on her way out the door, though Barbara Walters denied such movement. Walters, though, announced her plans for retirement in May 2014.

At the Vanity Fair party at the Tribeca Film Festival, Goldberg told Us Weekly that she was not interested in such personnel issues.

"Let me tell you this about 'The View': I take a paycheck every other week. That's all I do. I could give a sh-t what comes. I do my job -- I have a contract. That's where I stand. I don't give a f-ck," Goldberg said. She added, "My job is to show up and be »

'The Talk' Infringes On 'View' Territory

15 April 2013 5:42 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

CBS' "The Talk" is heading to New York for a week, thereby competing more directly with ABC's daytime talk show "The View."

CBS created "The Talk," hosted by Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne, Sara Gilbert, Aisha Tyler and Sheryl Underwood, as the network's version of Barbara Walters' long-running ABC program. Now that "The View" is in a somewhat precarious position, the CBS folks are perhaps testing the waters around what some consider the "The View's" more vulnerable position due to recent talent changes.

Joy Behar announced she is leaving at the end of season, Elisabeth Hasselbeck is reportedly on her way out and Walters is planning her retirement for May 2014. Show research reportedly revealed that both Behar and Hasselbeck's political points of view were considered too polarizing and alienating some audience members.

Though the shows will not air at the same time, the CBS production will infringe on "The View »

A new web series called In the Deep follows four friends in London's East End, including Emilia, who "has a confusing ‘thing’ with Riley, her straight best friend who also has a boyfriend."

Here's the first episode.

The Ultimate Fighter is finally putting women on their show and current Ufc contender Miesha Tate said she thinks it's going to be "wild."

I think it's going to be Real World meets Tuf, and I don't know, I have this idea or joke actually that all the girls are going to be like lesbians or hooking up with all the girls, and all the boys are going on there with hope thinking like, "we're gonna be the first guys that have chicks on the show and this is going to be awesome." And the girls are going to be like, "no boys allowed. »

Teen Wolf is going to a full throated howl on same-sex loving this season. We already know that Danny will be dating one of the Alpha Twins played by Max and Charlie Carver, but we didn't know how far they might take it. Jeff Davis says there will be some only-on-cable scenes between the boys. "I can't say we go to Spartacus levels, but their sex scenes are treated just like any other sex scenes you've seen on our show.  I've always thought that if you present this idealized world where young gay men and women are no different from anyone else, and it's not really questioned by the other characters, maybe life starts to imitate art and you begin to see that in the real world."

Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo will reprise their roles in the reboot of National Lampoon's Vacation, being a stop on Rusty's (Ed Helms) road trip. »

Barbara Walters is retiring in 2014 - report

28 March 2013 5:13 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

"The View" is set to lose its co-creator as veteran ABC News personality Barbara Walters is preparing to retire in May 2014, according to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter.

Sources tell the publication that Walters, 84, is expected to make the announcement herself in the coming weeks. She will reportedly stay on the ABC morning gabfest through next season to guide the show through its upcoming transition that will include the exits of hosts Joy Behar and (possibly) Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

THR reports that Walters' final year on ABC News and "The View" will see plenty of tributes to the newswoman's more than half a century in broadcasting.

News of her retirement doesn't come entirely as a shock. Walters was kept off "The View" for several weeks in January 2013 when a bout with chicken pox caused her to become faint and fall, cutting her head at the home of the British ambassador. »
