Emmanuel Lubezki Asc AMC has won the Acs's international award for cinematography for his work on Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life.
It is the second time that Lubezki has won the Australian Cinematographers Society award after the 2006 sci-fi film Children of Men.
The Tree of Life, a poetic film about childhood in the 1950s starring Brad Pitt, won the Cannes Film Festival's top prize, the Palme d'Or.
It was shot using an Arricam Lite and Arricam 235 with Arri/Zeiss Master Prime and Ultra Prime lenses, according to American Cinematographer magazaine. Lubezki used Kodak Vision2 500T 5218 and 200T 5217 film stock.
Lubezki's body of work also includes Burn after Reading, The New World, Sleepy Hollow, Ali, Meet Joe Black and he is currently shooting another film with Malick, titled Lawless.

The Australian Cinematographers Society has awarded Emmanuel Lubezki Asc AMC with the 2012 Acs International Award for Cinematography for his work on Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life. The pair have collaborated again on Malick’s new film Lawless, currently in production.

The Australian Cinematographers Society National President, Ron Johanson Acs announced in Sydney today that renowned cinematographer, Emmanuel Lubezki Asc AMC is the recipient of the 2012 Acs International Award for Cinematography for his work on the Terrence Malick film, “The Tree of Life”. This is the second time Lubezki has been the recipient of this Award, having won previously with “Children of Men”.
Mr. Lubezki’s body of work includes, Burn after Reading, The New World, Sleepy Hollow, Ali, Meet Joe Black and is currently shooting Lawless, again with Terrance Malick. His longstanding and successful collaboration with Director, Terrence Malick, is well documented.

Brad Pitt, Jessica Chastain in Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life Following numerous Us-based critics' citations, Emmanuel Lubezki's work on Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life has earned him the American Society of Cinematographers' Award at the Asc's 26th annual awards. The ceremony was held Sunday night at the Hollywood and Highland Grand Ballroom in Los Angeles. An Oscar nominee for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Cinematography, The Tree of Life is a complex family drama starring Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, and Jessica Chastain. The film marked the second time the Mexican-born Lubezki took home the Asc Award; he had previously won for Alfonso Cuarón's Children of Men (2006). An earlier Asc nomination for Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow (1999) preceded Lubezki two victories. Additionally, Lubezki has been nominated for five Academy Awards. Besides his three Asc movies, he was also shortlisted for Cuarón's A Little Princess (1995) and Malick's The New World. »
