Why Killer Croc Replaced King Shark in Suicide Squad

16 hours ago | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Back in the fall of 2014, Warner Bros. unveiled their official DC Comics slate, which included director David Ayer's Suicide Squad. At the time, it wasn't confirmed which characters would be used from the ever-evolving comic book lineup, but an early rumor claimed that the villains would be Blockbuster, Multiplex, Jaculi, Mindboggler, Captain Boomerang, Vixen and Deadshot, although only two of those characters ended up being correct. Now that we're just one week away from Suicide Squad hitting theaters, director David Ayer reveals that he was close to including another character in this lineup from the DC Comics.

David Ayer took part in a Twitter Q&A for Suicide Squad today, where he was asked by a fan if he could reveal what other characters he was thinking about bringing in for Task Force X, but didn't make the cut. The filmmaker revealed that one character who lamost made it in, »

Cast your minds back. All the way back to yesterday, when Suicide Squad‘s Jai Courtney revealed in an interview with Empire Magazine that he, like co-star Jared Leto, engaged in some unorthodox preparations for his role. He wasn’t alone in trying to match Leto’s craziness; director David Ayer apparently made the cast hit each other and amateur skin artist Margot Robbie gave the cast and crew tattoos.

Well, it turns out that Courtney was just having a laugh.

Business Insider caught up with the Aussie actor after his story of taking shrooms and extinguishing lit cigarettes on his skin understandably got everyone’s attention. The story took off, and many sites – us included – ran with it. As it happens though, Courtney was being sarcastic and, as everyone who’s ever tried to be deadpan over text can relate, »

Catch A Listen To The Suicide Squad Soundtrack From Composer Steven Price

22 hours ago | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

WaterTower Music has released a first track from the score to director David Ayer’s highly anticipated Suicide Squad, featuring the music of Academy Award-Winning composer Steven Price.

Price was tasked with navigating musically the colorful storyline of an assembled team of the world’s most dangerous Super-Villains and the emotional highs and lows they experience on an impossible mission.

“David’s film invited me to find a way to bring all of these incredible misfit outsiders together as a united force, with a thematic score that goes from moments of quiet emotion to huge action sequences,” explains Price. “The character’s themes interact and develop as the film progresses, and we witness the birth of the Suicide Squad. The score was a huge challenge, but a fantastic amount of fun to write!”

In 2014, his groundbreaking score for Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity (Interview) won the British composer not only the »

Jared Leto on succeeding Heath Ledger as The Joker in Suicide Squad

23 hours ago | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

In a week from now, Warner Bros. and DC will unleash their latest take on The Joker with Jared Leto’s portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime in the DC Extended Universe supervillain team-up Suicide Squad. Leto has of course some rather large shoes to fill – including Heath Ledger’s Oscar-winning turn in 2008’s The Dark Knight – and the actor has been chatting to Rolling Stone about following that iconic performance.

“Heath did an impeccable, perfect performance as the Joker,” said Leto, who becomes the fourth actor to play The Joker in live-action on the big screen after Cesar Romero (Batman: The Movie), Jack Nicholson (Batman) and Ledger. “It’s one of the best performances ever in cinema. I had met Heath before. I didn’t know him well, but he was a beautiful person. I think had it only been portrayed by Heath and it was never a comic book, »

Adam Beach Suicide Squad Q&A

Not long to go until Suicide Squad arrives in cinemas, and we genuinely can't wait here at The Movie Bit. We stopped foaming at the mouth long enough for a Q&A session with Adam Beach, who plays Slipknot in the movie. Question:  What was your reaction when writer/director David Ayer first approached you about this project?  Were you familiar with the comics at all?   Adam Beach:  Well, first and foremost, I’m a huge comic book fan.  People ask, ‘Why comics?  Why do you love them so much?’  And if you look at my past, my parents passed away when I was eight years old, and one of the things I remember is that my father used to bring me a comic at least once a week.  Those comics became a reality for me in terms of what I lost as a kid and what I gained in my future life. »

Step aside, Jared Leto. No-one’s impressed that you sent used condoms and anal beads to your fellow Suicide Squad cast members all in the name of method acting. Sure, that’s one way to attract attention for your new, Ker-azy take on The Joker, but Jai Courtney’s potentially got you beat.

It’s no secret that director David Ayer pushed his cast to the limit during filming. In addition to Leto’s self-directed antics, Ayer apparently made Task Force X punch each other in the face. Talking to Empire Magazine (via Batman News), Courtney revealed how much farther this behavior went when he arrived for a seemingly-normal meeting with his director:

Suicide Squad is everywhere. It’s plastered over billboards and public transport across the nation, occupying headlines left, right and center and, as has been the case for much of production, feeding the rumor mill with more enticing tidbits than we can count. The latest, for instance, seemingly reveals a cameo role for another member of the Justice League beyond Ben Affleck’s Batman.

And so, with all hands on deck, Warner Bros. has rolled out yet another featurette for the David Ayer-directed flick, this time taking a deep dive into the dark corners of Belle Reve, the high-security mad house that the Suicide Squad consider their base of operations. What’s more, there’s also a clip featuring Boomerang (Jai Courtney) plotting his escape.

Suicide Squad is still to hit theaters and already David Ayer’s posse of anti-heroes have all but cemented their place as household names.

Much of that, of course, comes down to the comic book star power of the Joker et al., but there’s no question that the sheer style and personality emanating from Warner Bros.’ imminent tentpole has upped their stock considerably – particularly among those moviegoers who perhaps aren’t as familiar with the lore as ardent fans.

Jessica Chastain in Talks for ‘The Division,’ Oprah Winfrey Reteams with Ava DuVernay, & More

With the hopeful success of Michael Fassbender jumping off buildings, Ubisoft is gearing up for an adaptation of another one of their video games titled The Division, which already stars Jake Gyllenhaal. Now, THR reports Jessica Chastain may join the Nightcrawler star in the dystopian action thriller set in New York City after a smallpox outbreak leaves the world torn. Hollywood has long-since tried to bring video games to the big screen, usually with muddled results. Star caliber of this rate is a good starting point, but who is set to helm and pen the film will be the next test to see how serious Ubisoft is to make this work. Chastain was most recently seen in The Huntsman: Winter’s War, and she’s slated for six films over the next year. Gyllenhaal is also producing the film with Gerard Guillemot of Ubisoft.

Suicide Squad director David Ayer says the Joker / Jason Todd rumour is ridiculous

27 July 2016 4:25 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

As it commonplace with superhero movies these days, Warner Bros.Suicide Squad movie has been surrounded by rumour and speculation from the moment it was first announced, with countless “scoops” from websites claiming to have the inside track on the film… the majority of which will be quietly swept under the carpet when the movie arrives in a little over a week from now.

During an interview with Wsvn-tv’s Chris Van Vliet (via THR), Suicide Squad helmer David Ayer was ssked what the most ridiculous rumour he’d heard during the making of the film, with the director responding: “That the Joker is Jason Todd. It ain’t the case. He’s not.”

The Joker / Jason Todd theory stems from Jared Leto’s Joker having a tattoo of a dead bird, along with the Robin costume glimpsed in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which apparently has bullet holes »
