ViacomCBS’s UK network has announced that it will work with seven Bame-owned production companies on new shows following the launch of its diverse indie initiative last September.
The initiative worked with the TV Collective to match black, Asian and minority ethnic-run producers with Channel 5 commissioners to develop ideas. It has now converted into seven commissions, which are:
Big Deal Films: Greatest Christmas Toys (1 x 120-minutes) and The Greatest Toys Of All Time (3 x 60), reflecting on the UK’s obsession with toys through the years.
Afro-Mic: Scenic Ireland: Coast to Coast (2 x 60), which explores and celebrates Ireland’s coastline.
Meridian Line Films: A yet-to-be-titled two-part documentary taking viewers behind the scenes of one of Britain’s most popular attractions.
Chatterbox: Sally Lindsay’s Poshest Homes Sleepover (3 x 60), which promises to go inside some of Britain’s plushest homes.

UK kids wouldn’t have survived the 90s without The Crystal Maze, Knightmare, Gladiators and more…
Remember boredom? Boredom was to a nineties childhood what stress is to modern adulthood – a constant and inescapable presence, relieved only by television.
See related Gotham season 4 episode 7 review: A Day In The Narrows
The difference is, even television could be boring in the nineties. Grown-ups exclusively watched One Man And His Dog, The Budget and Ballykissangel, the sort of programmes that gave you Sunday-night-dread any day of the week. Try as you might to escape border collies, Kenneth Clarke and priests having harvest festival scrapes in picturesque Irish villages, it simply wasn’t possible. There were no streaming services to come to your rescue. Video rental was a birthdays-only treat. What else were you supposed to do? Read?

After 13 series, there have now been more than enough I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! winners to fill up their own all-star series.
They all had to endure creepy crawlies, tough Bushtucker Trials and mockery by Ant & Dec, but they all won the hearts of the nation for a couple of weeks.
Some of them may have fallen from grace since, while some have soared up the UK fame ranks. But who were the best champions from their respective series? Here's our just-for-fun, don't-take-it-too-seriously Top 13.
13. Carol Thatcher - Series 5 (2005)
Potentially the most surprising winner of the lot, no-one could have guessed that Margaret Thatcher's daughter would have been voted the nation's favourite.
Viewers were won over by how involved she was in the tasks, her no-nonsense attitude, and the fact that she was only up against Sid Owen and Cannon & Ball.

Linda Barker is to front a new Channel 5 property series.
Brand New Home for £5k will see Barker achieve "amazing home transformations for jaw-droppingly small amounts of money".
The former Changing Rooms star will mastermind a team that will revamp properties on a shoestring budget by recycling items, restoring them and upcycling.
Barker will have two weeks to transform the houses, but will face big challenges when she encounters "out-dated décor, dilapidated fittings, peeling wallpaper... unfinished Diy projects and self-inflicted aesthetic crimes".
Emma Westcott, Commissioning Editor Factual, said of the commission: "We are delighted to have Linda on board for this series. Her background and love of design makes her the perfect presenter for Brand New Home for £5k.
"As the housing market is closing in, we think viewers will be fascinated by what can be achieved with a 5k budget."

Of course, we had the classics. 2013 saw the return of all the standard reality shows, from Big Brother to The Voice, and from The X Factor to Strictly Come Dancing. The Beeb even announced that Great British Bake Off was now so successful that it would move to big boy channel BBC One.
But aside from all of the classics, some other reality shows got us hooked - and surprisingly so. Below, we list five of our surprise hits from 2013 - let us know in the comments if you were a fan...

Back in 2003, the BBC ran a little show called The Murder Game, which followed a group of contestants trying to solve a murder. It was really smart and genuinely creepy at times.

We don't think we've seen anything quite as revolting as the shiny and pink offal glistening inside the limo during the latest Bushtucker Trial on I'm a Celebrity last night.
Lucy Pargeter took part in 'Limo Scream' and successfully secured 10 out of 12 stars during the stomach-churning task, which involved hunting for tokens under offal and a variety of nasties within the stretch limousine.
So we've decided to remind ourselves of other nausea-inducing challenges and trials that perhaps went a step too far on I'm a Celebrity.
Close your mouth for the love of God, Joe Pasquale!
The poor comedian had sopping wet rats clambering all over his face and neck as he was submerged in water during the 'Danger Down Under' trial on I'm a Celebrity back in 2004. Look at its wet, pesky paws all over his goggles! And its fat grey tail creeping down his shirt.
Stuff of nightmares.

The dancer is said to have told ITV bosses that he would like a spot in next year's lineup of celebrities, according to The Sun.

The former Dancing on Ice judge is known to be a big fan of the show, and appeared as a guest during the live final earlier this month.
Tom Daley's surprise hit TV show has been recommissioned for a second series by ITV, and will return in 2014.
Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards was crowned the winner of the first series, beating former Changing Rooms designer Linda Barker and Benidorm's Jake Canuso to the title.

Veteran Olympian Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards has won ITV's celebrity diving competition 'Splash!'
His triumph comes 25 years after he shot to fame with the world's worst Olympic ski jump at the winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada.
He knocked actor Jake Canuso into second place and Linda Barker, of the BBC's 'Changing Rooms', into third.
The Eagle landed perfectly with his first dive and taking a maximum 30 points for the two-and-a-half somersault from the 10 metre board.
It had not been an easy week for Edwards who lost his confidence in training with a series of painful belly and back flops.
But with his game face on and after his flawless showing, celebrity judge Jo Brand told him: "You just need to master hang gliding and you could be the next Milk Tray man."

We love a good animal act on Britain’s Got Talent, but we had feared that with Simon Cowell gone, the pampered pooches wouldn’t get a look in during this year’s series.
However, on the first episdoe of the new run, following on from last year’s success story of Tina and Chandi will be talented dog trainer Donelda Guy with not just one, but two dancing canines!
Before auditioning for Michael McIntyre, Amanda Holden and David Hasselhoff, Donelda told Ant and Dec that she has dedicated her life to her pets, because:
‘People disappoint us, dogs don’t!’
She and her collies Mega and Biba then began an astounding routine, which saw both animals follow her complicated choreography to the T. The judges and audience alike were enthralled and all gave the act a standing ovation.
The Hoff raved:
“You were elegant and fantastically rehearsed. It’s our best dog act yet.

Imagine if you were the lucky one to succeed in pulling the sword from the stone. You'd be revered as a hero or heroine, your name would be toasted in pubs up and down the country, you'd be a living legend.
Well, unless you pulled the sword from the stone, then toppled backwards because the sword was so heavy, then fall down the stairs behind you, hurt yourself while doing so, and then end up in a big, smelly pile of cow dung in front of a chortling crowd of millions.
