Weisz And Collette Are Best Friends In Catherine Hardwicke’s ‘Miss You Already’

23 April 2014 7:46 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Having directed stories about vampires (Twilight), werewolves (Red Riding Hood) and worst of all overactive teenagers (Thirteen), Catherine Hardwicke is ready to helm a story about grown up relationships with Miss You Already.

With the intriguing combination of Rachel Weisz and Toni Collette in the lead roles, the film sounds like a variation on Beaches ramped up to eleven, as two best friends’ lives are disrupted by a pregnancy on one side and sickness on the other.

The script is courtesy of Morwenna Banks, a comedienne who rose to prominence on cult sketch show Absolutely in the 90s, before joining the cast of Saturday Night Live. On her return to the UK she has been most notable for her work with Reeves & Mortimer and I for one am looking forward to seeing how her writing will fuse with Collette, one of the most diverse character actresses around.

Rachel Weisz And Director Catherine Hardwicke Join Miss You Already

22 April 2014 2:49 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Rachel Weisz and Toni Collette are two fine actors who should have made a deeper impression in Hollywood by now. Both bring their A-game to each film they are in, but they do not always pick the right projects. Occasionally though, we see a masterful performance (Weisz in The Deep Blue Sea, Collette on Showtime’s The United States of Tara) that reminds us of their talents. Now, both actresses are attached to Miss You Already, a drama following two best friends going through an emotional crisis.

Collette has been linked to this project since 2012, when Jennifer Aniston was signed on. Weisz, however, is only now coming on board to take Aniston’s role, as one of the forty-something friends who gets diagnosed with breast cancer, while Collette is a woman who becomes pregnant for the first time and starts a family. Both are lifelong friends torn apart by the changing world around them. »

Rachel Weisz and Toni Collette Team for 'Miss You Already'

22 April 2014 12:24 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Rachel Weisz and Toni Collette have signed on to star in the drama Miss You Already, which Catherine Hardwicke is directing. We first reported on this project back in February 2012, when Jennifer Aniston was attached to star and Paul Andrew Williams was set to direct.

The story follows two lifelong friends (Rachel Weisz and Toni Collette) in London whose relationship becomes fractured when one becomes pregnant and the other suddenly falls ill.

Morwenna Banks wrote the screenplay, with Embargo Films' Christopher Simon and Felix Vossen producing. Production is scheduled to begin this September in the U.K.

Here's what Catherine Hardwicke had to say about Morwenna Banks' script.

"When I met Morwenna Banks and read her script, I really felt her passion for this story - this is something she lived through. She managed to take real life and turn it into a powerful, laugh-and-cry-out-loud screenplay."

Some movies kick around in development, trying to get made. "Miss You Already" is one of those movies. It first surfaced back in 2012,  when Jennifer Aniston signed up to star with Paul Andrew Williams ("London To Brighton," "Unfinished Song") directing his Brit List script he co-wrote with Morwenna BanksToni Collette joined not too long after, but then everything stalled out. Now, two years later, the project is back on with some big changes. Collette is still on board, but Aniston is out, and Rachel Weisz is in, while Catherine Hardwicke has replaced Williams in the director's chair. And suddenly, we're much more interested in this one. Said to be in the vein of "Beaches," the story follows two best friends whose relationship ruptures when one becomes pregnant and the other becomes ill. The script was originally London-based, but has apparently been broadened to include other U.K. cities.  Like »

World Cup celebrated on ITV with new animated football comedy

23 February 2014 4:01 PM, PST | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

ITV is building up to the 2014 Brazil World Cup with a new animated football comedy from Simon Nye, the writer of Men Behaving Badly.

Warren United follows the fortunes of Warren Kinglsey, an overweight kitchen salesman and dedicated football fan. It will air on ITV.

Written by David Quantick and Dominic Holland, the show will feature the voices of Darren Boyd (Spy), Morgana Robinson (House of Fools), Morwenna Banks (Peppa Pig), Johnny Vegas and Eleanor Lawrence (Common Ground).

The production comes from Baby Cow (Uncle, Gavin and Stacey, Mighty Boosh and Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa) and Canadian animation house Smiley Guy.

The show will launch on April 22.

Henry Normal, co-founder of Baby Cow productions, said: "New animated narrative series in this country are so rare. So are comedies about football, while those about fans even rarer. On several counts, therefore, we're trying something unusual."
