A graduate of Northwestern University, Marji Bank was a mainstay of the Chicago stage for many years; in 1992 she won the Joseph Jefferson prize for Best Actress for her work as Grandma Kurnitz in "Lost in Yonkers" at the Royal George Theatre in Chicago.

She was nominated for a 1977 Joseph Jefferson Award for Actress in a Principal Role for her performance in the play, "Saturday, Sunday, Monday" at the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse in Chicago, Illinois.

She was nominated for a 1984 Joseph Jefferson Award for Actress in a Supporting Role in a Play for "Ladies in Retirement" at the Body Politic Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.

She was nominated for a 1987 Joseph Jefferson Award for Principal Role for an Actress for "She Always Said Pablo" at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.

She was awarded the 1993 Joseph Jefferson Award for Actress in a Principal Role in a Play for "Lost in Yonkers" at the Fox Theatricals in Chicago, Illinois.
