Mark Bamford (writer/director) was born in Louisville, Kentucky but raised mostly in New York. After graduating from New York University (NYU) in 1989 with a combined major in French Literature and Linguistics and a minor in Anthropology, he worked for several years in Los Angeles as a freelance screenwriter before writing and directing the short film Hero (2000) which won Bamford the Atom Films "Director to Watch" Award in 2001 and sold worldwide for television, including airing on the prestigious PBS network in the U.S.

Bamford's first feature film was the award-winning Cape of Good Hope which he co-wrote and directed while living in Cape Town, South Africa. Cape of Good Hope was one of the best reviewed films of the year and received numerous prizes and nominations including National Board of Review (Special Recognition), NAACP Image Awards (Nomination - Best Independent Film of the Year), along with numerous Best Film and Audience Awards at major festivals around the world.

Bamford is currently working on his next feature film project in London, England where he lives with his wife and creative partner, co-writer and producer, Suzanne Kay Bamford and their two children.
